The Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete Third Season

Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 05/31/2005 Run time: 1135 minutes Rating: Nr

Season 3 finds The Dukes of Hazzard coasting on its popular 1980s formula. Cousins Bo (John Schneider) and Luke (Tom Wopat) Duke are still tearing up the road in their '69 orange Dodge Charger, the General Lee, while Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke) everlastingly tries to frame them for everything from the theft of his cutlery at the Boar's Nest ("The Hazzardville Horror") to the heist of Stonewall Jackson's sword ("Along Came a Duke"). Meanwhile, leggy cousin Daisy (Catherine Bach) adds some dimension to her eye-candy character by becoming a reporter for the Hazzard Gazette ("By-Line, Daisy Duke") and a kidnap victim ("Enos Strate to the Top") whose innocuous photographs of Uncle Jesse (Denver Pyle) in Atlanta happen to capture a couple of bank robbers in action.

The predictability of the show in its third year by no means makes the series, created by writer-producer Gy Waldron (Moonrunners), anything less than shameless, tongue-in-cheek fun. Booke's cartoonish villain remains an outlandish self-caricature, chortling over every (doomed) opportunity to nail the Dukes and/or take Uncle Jesse's farm through a crooked boxing match ("And in This Corner, Luke Duke"), a bank robbery set up (by Hogg) to appear that Bo and Luke pulled off the crime during the wedding of Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (James Best, in "Mrs. Rosco P. Coltrane"), and even by pretending to be amnesia victim Bo's father ("My Son, Bo Hogg"). After some cast uncertainty in season 2 (boycotts, etc.), things have mostly settled down and Booke's popularity is obviously in ascendance at this point in the show. Special features here include a special welcome by Schneider, Wopat, and Bach, and on-camera commentary by the same trio. --Tom Keogh

The Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete Third Season Reviews

This season also had some neat cameo appearances like. -Country Western singer Tammy Wynette in "The Hazzardville Horror" episode when she sings her catchy hit song "Rocky-Top Tennessee". In addition to that, the Dukes 3rd Season takes me all the way back to memory lane to the recession we had going on back in 1981-1982 when Ronald Reagan was the president and when I used to watch this season of THE DUKES OF HAZZARD at 9PM right after THE INCREDIBLE HULK at 8PM and then DALLAS at 10PM after THE DUKES OF HAZZARD every Friday when they were all part of CBS's Friday night line-up from the Fall of 1980 thru the Summer of 1981, which also brings me back to memory lane when the General Lee was still the hottest car on Friday nights at the time, since KNIGHT RIDER hadn't even came out yet and didn't join the Friday night line-up on NBC till 2 years after this season. -Martha Smith in the "To Catch A Duke" episode before her co-starring days on SCARECROW & MRS. It was also interesting seeing. -Country Western singer Roy Orbison with his "Pretty Woman" song in "The Great Hazzard Hijack" episode. I recently purchased this DUKES OF HAZZARD's Third Season DVD and have added it to my collection of DVD's, which include KNIGHT RIDER, MAGNUM, THE A-TEAM, AIRWOLF, THE ROCKFORD FILES, WONDER WOMAN, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, etc. Fortunately, they brought Enos back on THE DUKES OF HAZZARD in the Fall of 1982 after Sonny Shroyer's TV show "ENOS" flopped and cancelled, due to plummetting ratings, but it was kinda interesting seeing Enos temporarily partner up with Cletus in the first few episodes of THE DUKES OF HAZZARD's 5th Season before Cletus's departure on the show.

-Don Stroud in the "Carnival Of Thrills" episode before his co-starring days as Capt. -Morgan Brittaney in "The Hazzardville Horror" episode during her co-starring days on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. This 1980-81 Season of The Dukes Of Hazzard was probably one of the strongest seasons during it's earlier years along with the fact that The Dukes Third Season was even better than the Second Season and the last 3 seasons of The Dukes Of Hazzard throughout it's whole 7-year run on CBS. KING

-Andy Robinson in "The Hazzardville Horror" episode after his co-starring days on RYANS HOPE. This was also the season when Boss Hogg's cousin Deputy Cletus Hogg(Rick Hurst)replaced Deputy Enos Strate(Sonny Shroyer) when Enos left Hazzard County to take a job in L.A. This was also the season when Cooter(Ben Jones) makes himself look better and younger by shaving off his beard. Lussen on THE NEW DRAGNET.

to work for the LAPD and to do his own spin-off series "ENOS", which kind of sucked since I and most other people prefered Enos to Cletus. -The Oak Ridge Boys make a returning cameo in the "State Of The County" episode, since the Oak Ridge Boys already had a previous cameo in the 2nd Season.

the Dukes are in for a scare when thieves stash stolen silver within the house everyone thinks that it is Haunted. The Dukes are back for more hazzardous fun this is one of the best seasons. The Dukes are in trouble when the most lowdownest scoundrel in all of georgia when Hughie Hogg arrives in hazzard.

A tip for all people who loves the show as much as I do:If you really are a fan of the original TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard" than go and watch John 'Bo Duke` Schneider`s new movie "Collier & Co - Hot Pursuit" which is currently running in a couple of cinemas for only a short time. It's not called "The Dukes" but it has humour,an awesome '69 Dodge Charger, really hot car stuff, brain and heart and it's entertainment at its best. You'll love it. Like all the other seasons of "The Dukes of Hazzard" this one is just pure entertainment at its best. These lovable characters with their exiting adventures, that awesome car and the humour make this TV show to something very special. It's a must see. I only hope that the two reunion movies will also be released on DVD very soon, because I just can't get enough of "The Dukes of Hazzard".

I love this show and for any Dukes of Hazzard fan these episodes are for you.

If I was to own 2 Dukes DVD's, definitely season 3 and 4. Only season better was season 4 before it went down the tubes with Coy and Vance as well as the show losing its luster in season 6 and 7.Bo and Luke coming back was like cheating on your wife (season 5) and it just not being the same when you see her again (season 6 and 7). Season 3 was the maturation and comfortability of the characters in their roles. The boxing episode and the Boss Hogg playing himself and Honest Abe Lincoln Hogg were 2 highlights.
