It's easy to read with the one page story format and the variety of topics covered makes every page an interesting one. I have both and can highly recommend them. If you like to increase your knowledge and can find even a few minutes a day to read, this is the book for you. I gave this book to several family members at Christmas and every one of them loved it. This book makes a great companion book for Intellectual Devotional: American History.
The idea is to read a page a day for a year, but its difficult not to sit down and read half of the book at one time. I saw this book in the store, started flipping through it and couldnt stop. I would reccomend this book to anyone who wants to expand their mind a bit. I also purchased the american history version and am loving it so far. Every page is an interesting little piece of information. Everyone knows someone who is full of interesting facts about random things, and this book can help make you one of those people.
It is well-written. What a nice treat this book is. The topics are varied. The additional facts content (bottom of most entries) are often filled with unique nuggets. It's a nice refresher or primer for those interested in expanding their understanding of the fields of music, art, philosophy, religion, science, etc. The authors approach the topics from a "101 level". Makes a great gift too. You only need 2-3 minutes to work through each daily reading.
Bought this as retirement gift for a friend. Absolutely would recommend to anyone who wants a different morning meditation. Great book.
Enjoyed it very much. A great book to have around. Learned a lot of things I never knew, while aloso expanding my knowledge of things I had some knowledge of.
