The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2 Reviews

Pros:. Enjoy this great game, especially if you love the works of J.R.R. Great Levels (new and exciting levels from the Blue Mountains to the Grey Havens to Dol Guldur to Erebor: awesome.). . Filled with amazing graphics, intense gameplay, and spectacular fights, BFME II belongs up there with the best of all Tolkien video games. Way Too Short (this isn ot a very long game and should have been designed to be longer).

NEW Units (lots of fun-filled Dwarves to slaughter Goblins with, lots of Elves to shoot giants with, and even some hobbit sheriffs). Naval Combat (BFME II introduces a brand new element to the gameplay, that of naval combat; if you fight as good, you use elven warships; if you foolishly decide to play as evil, you utilize Corsair warships). New Enemies to Fight (the Mouth of Sauron, Shelob, Gorkil the Goblin King, Giants, Half-Troll Marauders and a host of new units). Great Graphics (just as good as the first one's (see my review) and the added units' details just increase the value of this game. "The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II" is a excellent game that is the sequel to BFME. Tolkien like I do. Cons:.

No World Map (they took out the world map from BFME and replaced it with cut scenes narrated by Hugo Weaving, who played Elrond in the films).

Game was new, We just can't play it due to having the wrong components in our computer. We are happy with the Amazon store that sent it. Please don't hold "star" rating against seller. Thanks BG VERY prompt delivery. Game was what they said it was.

First of all, I have to say that the graphics, even when set on ultra high were very disappointing and EA made no effort to improve them since the last game. I also tried looking on other forums for this but with no joy. When I went through the EA support system they said, "try rebooting and enter this code." Needless to say, that didn't work. There were a couple of things that were disappointments. I then went to nine other third-person forums where I finally found something that I could get it to boot up.

The inclusion of the dwarves and elves as races makes the skirmish mode more interesting. The largest problem was that if you are using any sort of nVidia graphics card this game usually WON'T even start. Overall, this is a good game and a vast improvement over the first BFME. The graphics where blocky and the characters' faces were all blurred out.

Finally, if you save a game it won't be retrievable.

It does bring an atmosphere reminiscent of Tolkien's world, but then I suppose most such games do that.

It's not a first-person game, but rather a build-and-battle game.

Such is the influence of an author like Tolkien.

The units are well-balanced, and the game solid, though I did bring the ring to my fortress once only to have it disappear and then reappear mysteriously.

This recreation of Tolkien's world succeeds, in my opinion, at least as far as reflecting various battle scenes is concerned.

It's more complex than version I too, for now archers and footsoldiers are rather critical for battling monsters, and there are some neat new monsters such as Wyrm.

They addressed many of the concerns people had with version I, for instance, now you can place buildings yourself.

I don't think Gollum was involved.

A mid-range graphics card is needed, and the interface is intuitive, and similar to Battle For Middle-earth I.

Very simplistic and not very playable. but you don't have the option of picking your next battle by moving on a strategic map like in volume I. I had expected more. First off, the "strategic" level war of the ring is total crap. No real improvements in design or playability, just new races and units. Again, there are two pre-scripted campaigns: good and evil. Those are o.k. Not recommended.
