The Man From Earth Reviews
But the movie itself was pretty rotten. This movie is literally just a bunch of people sitting around in a cabin. I normally enjoy watching John Billingsley. However, in this movie, he really annoyed me.
But all I got was talk. As others have said, the production value was bottom-of-the-barrel, and the acting wasn't that great either. I kept waiting. If I were reading the dialog rather than suffering through watching it, I probably would have enjoyed the heck out of it. It's why I rented the movie.
I really liked the concept. They are talking. I think the problem was the attempt to simply take a book and put it on screen with no adjustment for the medium. That's the action. That's not entirely the actors' fault, though.
I was expecting something like Highlanderat least in terms of some period flashbacks.
I enjoyed watching this movie very much. It is one of those movies you'll carry in the back of your mind for a long time after watching. It is thought provoking, challenging without being offensive, intellectually stimulating and quiet entertaining. It accomplishes a rare fit of being able to keep one captivated through the length of the film even though it runs practically on one scene.
Besides asphyxiating He was STABBED. If you have any understanding of a Roman crucifixion you will be insulted that anyone could try to suggest someone could survive it. This however, contains horrible acting with a horrible plot. Seriously, I LOVE Science Fiction. This movie insulted my intelligence.
Weird that people enjoyed this. So, this movie LOOKS interesting and the concept IS interesting, but don't be fooledIT'S NOT REAL. This theory has been disproved many years ago and has to be discredited every decade or so because people aren't good historians. The worst part is the fact that the writer tried to suggest the Swoon Theory could be true. Jesus faking his death.
Yes, it could be interesting if it had flashbacks included with the storytelling, but it simply has dialogue.
Very interesting ideas explored in the movie, but difficult to get past the very low budget production. Not worth the 2.99. Grainy and jumpy video makes it look less professional then most current TV shows. Maybe worth a buck.
I was a little skeptical about a dialogue-only story, but it was like sitting around a campfire, being drawn in by the story until that's all there is.
