The Movies

The Movies answers a question that many of us have had: What if YOU were in charge of a movie studio? Imagine if you could make any movie you wanted, any way you wanted. Would you create epic action films? Campy b-movies? You can make it big in Hollywood by building the ultimate movie studio. Choose the scripts, control budgets, design & build sets, and settle into the director's chair and see if you can make a hit. Once you've created your box-office smashes, you can even watch them -- adding your own voiceovers and saving them to your hard drive or publishing to a Web site.

Imagine you could make any movie you wanted to. Imagine you could pluck someone from obscurity and make him or her the hottest star in Tinseltown. Imagine that you had control of an entire movie studio, competing with others to create a string of box office smashes. Imagine being able to use your judgement alone, deciding whether success lies with epic action pictures or lots of low budget, hammy 'B' movies.

Will the stars you've so lovingly groomed develop monstrous egos - refusing to accept that they are now too old to play the romantic leads that made them famous? You can help, but there are only so many times you can send them to fat farms and plastic surgeons.

Will you watch your movies being shot or do you want to direct the action yourself? Will you decide to innovate and introduce the talkies, color or digital sound before any of your rivals? Or will you let the other studios make the investments, leaving you to jump on the bandwagon if the new technology becomes popular?

Many of the things you've ever read or heard about Hollywood are right here in The Movies - from stars having affairs and hitting the bottle to teams of genius filmmakers creating the box office hit of the year. Movie mogul, talent spotter or film director. You can be one or you can be all three. That's the magic of The Movies.

The Movies Reviews

The scriptwriters office writes movies for you, but you can make your very own. (If you like it a lot I suggest getting the Stunts and Effects Pack) Make movies. I recommend this game to anyone who's every dreamt over beening a movie creator.

This game is really fun. The only dissapointing thing about the game is that you have to use pre-made scenes which can make making a movie longer than two minutes hard. The studio building mechanic is really easy to use. The game's grapics are really good as are the sound effects.

You get to do Something no other game lets you do.

i got this of amazon and as always im totally happy with it. it plays great.

(no.strangely THAT part of Hollywood was not included). Simply, there is no other game like it. bankrupt in no time, as it will release fewer and more expensive movies. What I liked about this game was its historic accuracy, simplified efficiency and clear-cut design. In the end, although very entertaining in many ways, the strong suit of this game is not its Movie-Business Management Simulation but rather its Movie Creating editor. Or janitors.

THE MOVIES is a cross-genre hybrid, beautifully combining a SIMS game with a business-RTS one and a highly creative movie suit. What I loved about this game was the opportunity to plan out the script in a detailed story-board and then shoot my own movies. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Casting is prety straight forward, plucking some lucky characters from the waiting line and turning them into stars.

Not only do you get to step into the shoes of a Hollywood mogul, but you get a shot in "realizing" that film you always had in you. But that is besides the point, is it not. Or script writers. What is a bankrupt studio in the wake of a iconoclastic new director towards his vision. The bad news is that if your visions are long and complicated your studio will be. Most importantly, innovation. The game starts with the design and building of your Studio (using up the allocated funds), complete with Script stables, Sound stages, Production offices and (ahemm.). casting-couches.

During these months of boycotting most new PC games releases (for harboring vicious DRM schemes and Limited installations), I found the time to replay a number of older games that truly are much better in many ways. Yes, life is a bitch. Not only are most stages in making a movie readily available and the means to achieve this evolve as time progresses, but everything has a familiar feel and self-evident practicality as well. Stars throwing tantrums and directors relaxing too much with the sauce; aging stars in need for nip/tacks - and always keeping an eye out for whoever has the bigger trailer. Or directors.

Well, it's fun for the first day or two, but it gets very repetitive and irritating after awhile.

I'm 14 years old and i liked the game, i think anyone any age wold like it too. I don't know any game that you wont get bored of eventually, so i think this game is worth buying at amazon.com at least. The game is an fun game you can play in two modes, sandbox and regular, i have tried both the first day i got it i played it non stop for a bout a week, a little while later i got bored of it but i just started to play it again and it really is fun. :-) :)
