The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Reviews

At one point, you're watching your character from behind when he moves through these slamming spike blocks, and when they closed, I couldn't even see my character, but he was repeatedly being a shot by an unseen enemy. And if you got close to the end of the episode and had to shut down the game, well.that was two hours wasted and another two hours of playing through the same part of the game again, when you rebooted your game. If you don't have a good two hours to play through an entire episode, then either be prepared to lose all of your gameplay or to leave your console on until you can get back to the game. I found myself having to leave my console on for hours or even days at a time because I did not want to lose an hour or two of gameplay. I really enjoyed the storyline and gameplay of this game. And you have no control over the camera.

When will game designers realize that the player should have the capability to save the game when they choose and not force players to play to the end of a chapter or episode before being able to turn off the machine. I really wanted to like this game and, save for the two (really major) problems noted above, it would have been an enjoyable game. The game has restart checkpoints that you reach every five minutes or so, so that when you get killed you don't have to start at the beginning of the episode again, but those are only good as long as you don't turn the machine off. If you're going to design this type of game, at least make the save times occur more commonly (like 5-10 minutes of gameplay time) rather than hours apart. I don't know how many times I died, particularly in the rock climbing portions of the game because I could not see what was coming next or where I had to jump. The graphics look really good and the action is fun.

However, there are two things that make this game extremely frustrating and not worth buying. Do the designers not realize that some of us have lives and can't always devote hours to playing a game. 1)The camera angles suck. Instead, it is a frustrating experience that leaves you wanting to throw your controller through the television monitor. There are some portions of the game where you are running through a tunnel toward enemies that are shooting at you, but the camera is showing your profile so you can't see what you're moving towards. 2)Rare save points. Some episodes took a couple of hours to get through with no ability to save anywhere along the way.

The Mummy Tomb of The Dragon Emperor is kind of like the other mummy games such as the Mummy Returns for the PS2. The game play at first was fairly frustrating at first especially trying to get past the museum with Alex and it had all of these booby traps with spears pointing up and spinny spikes in crevices that you have to time yourself right in. Alex is now a 22 year old boy in which he followed his parents' footsteps ever since he was on an adventure with his family in Egypt. IF you are a fan of the Mummy, go for it. The game provides HUDS, puzzles and timed sequences.

But once you get farther in the game and you play it for a little bit, you will soon get used to the game and it will become enjoyable. A problem with this game is that you do the same things over and over like kill enemies that look exactly the same and activating switches. In this game, you play as Alex O'Connell and Rick O'Connell. The choice is up to you. If not, save your money.

This game is different than the Mummy Returns because there is more interaction in the game and you play as more than one character.
