The Savage World of Solomon Kane (Savage Worlds; S2P10400)
A Landless Man. A Wanderer. A Puritan. Solomon Kane is many things, but above all, he is a hero. In a time of savagery and horror, he wanders the darkest corners of the Earth and battles the evil he finds hidden within. From the savage interior of Africa to the cold forests of Europe, the frigid mountains of Cathay, and the blood-soaked jungles of South America he battles merciless butchers, deathless queens, and even winged demons in his pursuit of righteous vengeance. Now your hero can follow the Path of Kane. Whether a Puritan wanderer, a misguided pirate, or a soldier of fortune, a time of legend has come and fate has chosen her champions. Kane began the fight against an ancient evil so great it could destroy humanity, but now others must carry the torch into the darkness. The Savage World of Solomon Kane (Savage Worlds; S2P10400) Reviews
Then, the content is top notch and it will entertain you during months without needing another book to fuel your game. I am very pleased and I can't rate it less than 5/5. I am impressed by the quality of this book and I dare to write that it is close to perfection. It will last long and resist the wildest group of players. The physical product is solid and full in colors, with an impressive look, like an old, mysterious book of magic. It is a great value if you like the setting, because you'll be able to play everything with it: gothic tales, pulp adventures, war campaigns or horror stories, in a fun way full of musketeers and pirates, or in a darker world with deeper characters, social issues and grim plots. It contains a complete description of the world of Solomon Kane, a summary of Howard's writings, tons of NPC to meet, monsters to fight and places to explore, and a full campaign all around the world.
It is not too rules heavy and it has lots of options to customize a character and create a true pulp hero. I haven't yet tried the system (Savage Worlds) but it seems not complicated and very supportive of the background. The editing is very good, the text is clear, well organized and easy to read. Everything is in the book. The illustrations of wandering heroes and savage landscapes support the ambiance.
