There Is a River: The Story of Edgar Cayce Reviews
My immediate thought was the author and or publisher lacks credibility. I have read to page 310, a little over half way and have enjoyed the read but there are 33 pages missing (311 - 342) and then the text repeats (343 -374) twice. Don't know what else to say. I am disappointed to say the least.
Love from Both Sides: A True Story of Soul Survival and Sacred Sexuality I'm a writer (that's my book) and a working hypnotherapist, a healer, but when I read "There is a River," in the '70s, I had no idea what my life would become. But the book is written in a style that has gone out of style, so it might seem old fashioned. and that is universal. Nonetheless, it tells the story of an "ordinary man" with extraordinary ability, who was born into a specific religion, lived in a specific country, at a specific time. If you can keepa all that in mind, the book will inspire you and warm your heart. Looking back, I see I must have been "led" to read it. So, if you're interested in Edgar Cayce, and his kind of work, this is good place to begin.
This biography was indeed an insight into Edger Cayces life, but I was exspecting more and I found the reading rather bland and would have loved more details, it was like reading the "little house on the Prarie"
The stories about some of his medical evaluations and treatments are not to be missed. This is a great book about an ordinary guy with extraordinary abilities. Even today people still have a hard time with clairvoyance.imagine how hard it must have been to have published this book over 60 years ago. Both had conflicts between their religious upbringing and the "gift" they were given. Other than Emanuel Swedenborg, there are not many people who have as interesting a life story as Edgar Cayce.
I saw in it a man of unwavering honesty and steadfast ethics. This is why I was shaken from my comfortable 20-year mindset.
Because of this I found him to be exceptionally credible. I can only say what it did for me.
Personally, I enjoyed reading the book. It changed my life, because it shifted how I view life.
I've glanced at some of the other reviews, and I see that the book gets mixed reviews. This book gets my nod of approval.
It motivated me to read other books that further convinced me that Edgar Cayce was right on. I don't read many books more than once, but I enjoyed re-reading this one.
