Thermaltake BlacX eSATA Hard Drive USB Docking Station Reviews

If you're using the eSATA connection, then you may want to look into this utility. It comes with both a USB cable and an eSATA cable (as well as a power adapter). It seems well designed and constructed. I'm using Vista-64 and a free utility called "HotSwap." to help with adding and removing drives while the system is on. The box says it supports drives up to 1TB, but I'm hoping it will do more but I don't currently have any 1TB+ drives to try it with. I've also used other USB to IDE/SATA devices and they were handy too, but this docking station is even better. I haven't had this long, but I've transferred many GB's of data so far using the eSATA connection. I'll probably pick up another one at some point in the future.

I have the machine set up as a dual boot machine with an XP partition and a VISTA partition. Once I got it to work, it has been great. I also backed up to a 3.5 in disk.

What a battle. So far it has worked great and is much faster than a USB connection. The XP partition worked great, but I really struggled with the VISTA partition.

I finally removed the chipset driver and reinstalled it to make it work. I have a brand new Toshiba laptop with an ESATA port. Great way to make use of old hard drives.

I imaged my drive to a 2.5 drive using Acronis.

In my view this is one of the neatest gadgets I've happened on in ages. Having years of experience using hard drive racks/trays and external drive enclosures, I happened on this device recently and purchased one from Amazon. So far I have only used the USB 2.0 capability, but it works flawlessly. At first I had some problems getting the factory partition enabled using XP, so I set up the large drive using my newer laptop with Vista. Going back to the older XP system, the older computer recognized the full capacity of the new drive. The Thermaltake website made this a snap. I picked up a 1 TB drive on sale last weekend and had it up and running on a relatively old XP system at my office the same afternoon.

It is nice to have the peace of mind knowing that in the future I can just pull the hard drives and keep them with all, I repeat, ALL of the data preserved. So convenient I just wish I had docking stations for my old hard drives. I like the docking station so much, I bought two of them.

No hassle and would definitely recommend seller AND PRODUCT. exactly WHAT I wanted and for a good price. Beautiful. Fast Ship, product brand new in box.
