Thermaltake Sata HDD USB Docking Station Reviews

I no longer use and pre-built external drives or permanent enclosures. I keep two of these on my desk, one for a dedicated backup drive and the other to use mainly for diagnostics. Simple, rugged and dependable. I have literally used dozens of these in a tech shop as well as for home use.

Snapping a disc into the base or removing it was easy, no problem at all. Be advise though that this base is SATA so your old HD won't fit. After you partitioned, gave the new disc a letter (and a name if you wish), and formated the drive, you all are ready to go. Well, yes, you have to do a little work for a new hard drive to work. financial transactions).

If you keep your sensitive data on the disc, you only turn it on at the time you work with the data (e.g. You can turn your drive on and off at any time while you computer is on and XP recognizes it right away. Yes, it is a winner. Turn it off and NOBODY sees your data, it is completely secure. In XP you have to go to "Start - All Programs - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Storage - Disc Management" and find you new disc there.

No more external hard drives with enclosures. I am very pleased with this docking station. Works great to conncet to my Time Capsule for TC archives.

This product delivers plain and simple. This device sets up in seconds and just gets the job done.

The disc finds its socket every time and leaves it without too much force applied. 7) Not too hot: you can touch your HD while operating without burning your fingers. Windows XP handles switching on and off gracefully. 4) When you don't need the dock any more, just turn it off. 2) I bought one WD 640Gb SATA disc just to test it. 5 out of 5 stars.

3) The speed of transfer is decent, as expected from USB2 connection. In two weeks I did not experience even the slightes problem. My ony complaint: Cables could be a little bit longer. 6) Quiet operation: almost no additional noise during standard operation.

No problem with insertion or removal - you can do it without problem even if you're nervous or in a hurry. 5) Stable. 1) Extremely easy to install (no installation at all).

Great product. But that's really minor: USB cable is standard for this type of external device, so I replaced it with my own.
