This Is How I Roc: 2008 Yep Roc Label Sampler Reviews
I have gotten tired of iTunes giving us singles of the week that are drab and bland so I have recently begun getting the weeky free MP3 downloads from Amazon. I was blown away by this offering. This is truly an amazing sampler from Amazon and thank you again for the free great tunes. I was not a big fan of the Apples in Stereo but their song "Can You Feel It." on this album has made me a fan. They are both laid back type of songs that one can easily listen to on the patio while driking some lemonade, beer, or iced tea watching the day go by. In only one album Amazon has destroyed nearly all of the previous 52 weeks of iTunes. I have a very eclectic taste in music so I enjoyed all of the songs, especially "Brandy Alexander" by Ron Sexsmith and "The Club" by Nick Lowe.
They are all songs from artists I did not recognize, which is part of the point-expansion of our musical worlds. Now I will look for other music from these artists. I found 3, and since they're free, why complain. Thanks, Amazon. The nice thing about this sampler is downloading the ones you like.
I was disappointed in this selection, especially the single from Nick Lowe. Not my type of music, and I like Rock & Oldies. The only song I cared for was the first one.
I may have to find more of his stuff now. I especially love "The Club" by British rocker Nick Lowe. Always nice to find a freebie, and these are really great tunes. It rocks. The rest of the songs are all terrific also. The song has a kind of a retro 50's rock style, but is very modern in its edginess and tone. Thanks, Amazon.
I was suprised how good some of the songs are. It being free certainly made it even better. Very cool. The variety was enough that I was not bored and I could enjoy the different nuances of indie roc music.
