Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Ghost Recon is a deadly game of intrigue and military combat, where a top-secret strike force has to save the world! Interact with dozens of different characters, including specialists that add distinctive weapons to your team Intense multiplayer action for up to 36 people through your online connection
Set in the year 2008, Ghost Recon is a Tom Clancy-inspired war game that puts you in command of a Special Forces unit pitted against Russian ultranationalists trying to rebuild the former Soviet Union. Although the story arc is grand in scale (in keeping with Clancy's style), the game doesn't involve you in the war's major battles. You'll actually spend most of your time behind enemy lines--rescuing downed fighter pilots, knocking out enemy patrols, ambushing armor columns. You control a six-man squad, divided into two teams, and you have the opportunity to handpick your squad members (and their equipment) after each mission briefing. You can switch your point of view to any of the six active soldiers--the soldier you control automatically becomes the leader of his team, while the other team operates according to orders you give via a map interface. Thus, you can move one team into a covering position, leave them with orders to provide cover fire, then lead the other team in to reach your objective. Or, break up your squad and try to achieve two objectives simultaneously. The level of detail and realism is incredible, right down to the way the soldiers communicate in hushed tones and with gestures. The complexity of the game requires an elaborate controller setup that takes a while to get used to (luckily there are plenty of training missions designed to help you learn the multitude of movement, weapons, and command functions). Once you get the hang of it, you'll find it's worth the time spent in boot camp. --Maile Bohlmann Pros: - Incredible graphics and realism
- Wide array of tactical options integrates strategy into the action
- Missions are diverse and challenging
Cons: - Controls are complicated, hard to master, and sometimes counterintuitive
- Dramatic music and "drill sergeant" narration between missions is pretty campy
- Enemy soldiers sometimes behave too predictably

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Reviews
GR2 is the better game on a few small levels, but GR 1 is still excellent. you do have to acheive specific objectives to win, but you can approach your goals from many different angles and by employing various stategies/styles of play. I really enjoyed the progression of my besat squad members as well. If you like FPS games, but also like a level of stategy, you should enjoy this game. I actually played GR2 JungleStorm before playing the original GR. . There is also a good "open-world" feel to the game.
My mom really, really, really wants to play it. This is my favorite game. It's very challenging and it's very fun because you get different types of weapons and you get to pick your soldiers. I'm a huge war fan and Ghost Recon fan. Ghost Recon is the best game I ever played. It's fun because you get to shoot people and there's blood.
You just have to make sure that you have an appropritate member to complete the mission. Team members who have been killed cannot be used for the missions and it is wise to leave your wounded members back at the base to heal for a mission or two. It's not an easy game, but it's challenging. Ghost Recon for the PC is probably a better title as the graphics are much impoved over the PS2 graphics and there are a lot more cinematic sequences there as well. The plot is based on the Russian ultranationalists taking over a small neighboring country in a bid to rebuild their crumbling country.
I have to say that if you liked this game, you are sure to like the other Tom Clancy games, such as Splinter Cell or GRAW. It is completely open-ended in the style you are able to complete your missions. It was the first one out for the PS2. Although the graphics are not the best of all the PS2 games, the are certainly on par. Although you do have to make sure to have a well rounded team. As you complete more missions and do more of the extra objectives, you can unlock secret characters who have very high levels of skill over your own players. I certainly enjoyed this game when it was released and it is a good classic game.
The only problem that I would see with them is that it can get difficult to see your enemies during the daytime missions. The basic concept of the game is to use stealth to overtake your enemies however this point is completely optional. The Ghosts are part of a taskforce that has been sent in to help the fledgling country fight off it's attackers. Sometimes it is just fun to choose your favorite members. I love this Ghost Recon game. You can choose your team to be made up of a group of bazooka-weilding members if you so desired.
ta ta for now folks. ;) so Scott 'fancy' makes realisam stand out like call of duty (check that out peoples)which is 'fancy' and realistic at the same time. this game is okay as it is (the only reason im doing this is because my friend klyer).Scott rogusta here is not right at all you guys (even kids like me that are 8 years old really on graphics).
They are great and the PS2 version makes a target zoom avilable. Graphic - Too many people complain about this part of the game. Controls - The controls are tight and work very well, I disagree with the people saying the controls take a long time to get use to. Gameplay - The gameplay is very diverse. Do take in mind that this game originated on the PC so the graphics transition to the PS2 was actually done very nicely. I actually think the graphics are really good. No two levels look alike or play alike making no levels a waste of time or give you the feeling that you've played it before. Concept - Lead five fellow Ghosts into battle using stealth and all out firepower, depending on the situation.
I really wanted to see this game through and couldn't put it down for the longest time. Never at one point did I get frustrated or confused by the controls. I could go on and on telling you about this game but instead I'll cut to the chase, breaking this game down into little pieces. I love this game and any "true" war gamer should as well. A bullet wizzing by your head sounds like, well, a bullet wizzing by your head and guns blazing in the distance sound cool and give you the feeling your being shot at. The story is set in the near future where you will retreive documents, rescue prisoners, take hostages, and the like.
I know they are not the best but the gameplay is so good that I never cared. All the guns sound different, as they should, but so do bullets at different distances. Sound - Ok this part is cool. The graphics don't focus on "fancy" they focus on "realism" which I think many will agree is the better to strive for. Now, maybe it sounds like I'm getting excited over nothing but trust me, if you crank this game through a good sound system, it'll rock.
10/10. The overall goal is to accomplish these tasks swiftly, silently, and invisibly, hence the name Ghost Recon. Replayability - Man this game is replayable espiecially due to the mini challenges, various multiplayer modes (including co-op) and second campaign you unlock after beating the first which is 15 missions long and can be played on three different difficulties, that change the amount of enemies and their skills. Everything is so unpredictable and original.
