Top Gear Rally(Game Boy Advance) Reviews

This is simply the best GBA Rally game.Bar none. And your co-pilot comes complete with a cool foreign accent.Awesome.

That's how I drive a real car, so that's how I want to drive a virtual car. I'd rather have a full course map, or at least a larger section map, like GT Advance, but this is a rally, not a closed course, so the map thing is generally worthless. Need For Speed gives me only the in-car option. I can punch through all the splash screens to get right to the game. For instance, the game obviously has no graphics for the rear view of anything. The little pseudo-map in the corner is pretty useless to me.

I wish all games were like this. Top Gear Rally is by far the best, yet. I have spent a lot of time with Top Gear Rally, and I have only scratched the surface. There is no rear view mirror and when the car spins past a certain angle, the view pulls out from in-car to above and behind until you get the car turned around. Aside from the racing aspects, Top Gear Rally is a very well put together game. This is the game I pull out of the dozens in my bag.

I like racing games that let me sit in the car. I keep coming back for another try. I guess that's the best recommendation. I don't particularly like the music in some of the other games - it gets really annoying after the 50th time. Top Gear offers a choice. The graphics are excellent (as far as GBA goes), the physics are very good, and the game is quite challenging.

The fact that Top Gear has no music while driving is not a problem for me. There are some limitations, but I think they are acceptable.

The general user interface is excellent. I prefer to hear my engine revs so I don't have to watch the tach or speedometer.

I've done Need For Speed: Porshce Unleashed, which was pretty good, but not as challenging; GT (a Japanese version), really lame; GT Advance, fair; GT Advance 3, pretty good, but poor graphics and low realism; Mario Karts, actually the most fun before I tried Top Gear Rally, although very low on realism. I think this is a good trade for the better graphics.

GT Advance only shows the outside view. It just looks and feels professionally made, unlike some games that seem like they were written by amateurs.

The options and menus are simple and easy to figure out.

You can earn cool cars as you advance through the levels. This is the sweetest game. The graphics aren't as good as PC but for GBA they are good. If you are a racing fan who is disopointed with GBA's poor graphics for their race car games try this out. The levels are challenging, fun, and exciting.

I love this gamethe first I bought with my GBA SP. One thing, and I may have just not found it, but one registered racer can run a track in championship mode and when the times are displayed the times of the other players who have played that track ARE NOT shown. You wont have that problem here.

And the environments can be greathalf the fun of a good rally game. Is this just an anomaly with my cart. Another thing: There is no music in my cart except while Im preparing for a race.

Regarding car believability, compare to GT Advance 3 Pro Concept which has the worst sprite-like autos. No music while Im racing. Surely this isnt right.

I swear I can see the image jerk when I go into a turn on that game. there may be a way to access these time rankings but I havent seen it yet.

All except for the fact that the terrain is the same in most tracks it is almost the best game I ever bought. Top Gear Rally is a very good game. The game has excellent graphics and good cars.
