Match the Power to the Task for Better Results
Tackle big clean-up jobs the right way with this powerful blower vac. A variable speed 12 Amp motor lets you select from an infinite variety of speeds between 112 mph and 235 mph. This means that you can use low speeds to clear off hard surfaces and clean up tight areas without making a mess and without sacrificing the blower's high-speed functionality.

Air Speed and Air Volume to Get Yard Jobs Done
Unlike some manufacturers, who simply reduce the size of their blower nozzles to achieve higher air speed ratings without increasing the practical value of their tools, Toro gives this blower vac the ability to balance between air speed (measured in mph) and air volume (measured in cfm) to ensure maximum power and performance. This Ultra blower vac offers air speeds up to 235 mph and air volume up to 255 cfm, allowing you to move a substantial volume of leaves and debris with ease.

3-in-1 Versatility Makes Managing Tasks Easy
A convenient quick-release latch lets you convert your blower into a vacuum in seconds without any tools, while a metal impeller makes it easy to mulch debris.

The magnesium serrated metal blades on the impeller shred leaves and other unwanted debris into a fine mulch that you can use around your lawn and garden, saving money and recycling important nutrients. It also makes it easy to dispose of unwanted yard waste, since the impeller can reduce 16 bags? worth of leaves to one bag.

Clean and Efficient with Electric Power
Compared with gas blowers, electric blowers are quieter, more eco-friendly, and require less maintenance. They start up instantly without requiring you to master a finicky pull cord. There's no messy gas-oil mixture to worry about, and you don't have to contend with noxious fumes to get a job done.

This high-powered blower also weighs in at a very manageable 7.5 pounds, making it easy on your back.

This blower/vac is backed by a full two-year warranty.

What's in the Box

Even a large yard is easy to clean up with this blower.

Toro Ultra 12 Amp Variable Speed Electric Blower/Vacuum With Metal Impeller #51599 Reviews

This is a great tool for general yard clean-up. Connected to a small generator, I can reach any point on my property. This one is simply "Use it and store it" until the next time. Too many other gas powered machines are constantly needing something. Not as powerful as a gas engine version, but NO Maintenance.

I liked the other features which is why I'd selected it, but didn't actually use it. My husband decided that he would not use the equipment I'd given him for his birthday and wanted to return it. Once the tube pieces are joined they cannot be separated. Care should be taken in assembling the blower tube. Because the blower tube was now too long to go back in the box, this made for a nightmare to package for shipping (costly too). Small but powerful. We borrowed this Toro to use to suck up leaves in our rock landscaped yard - and had to have one. It sucks up the leaves without picking up the rocks and mulches them. The blower works great too.

We love this for the leaf blowing but for the vacuum it just doesn't do the job. We live in Portland OR where we have lots of leaves that are very wet and this just gets clogged to make it practical.

Despite the metal impeller, this model couldn't compare to the ruggedness of my old Toro blower vac. I owned a Toro Model 51587 Blower Vac for four years - very similar to this Model 51599 except it had a plastic impeller and was single-speed. I'm going to "baby" this replacement - no jumping into any thick layers or piles of leaves or assuming it can handle sticks or small stones as well as my older Toro model. What they failed to tell me is that the factory servicer has a tendency to close up shop and disappear for days or weeks at a time.

It finally just wore out - the plastic lugs on the suction horn that activated an interlock on the power unit that permitted it to start when the suction horn was attached just finally wore away from hundreds of hours of use - most of them heavy use. Plus the Model 51599 is much quieter than my older Toro. What is better is that Toro improved every minor design weakness in my older model. Then it started vibrating worse and worse, and I knew then it was just a matter of time before the main bearing would fail, and it did, less than a month after buying it. So I naturally assumed this model with the metal impeller would be even better - not so fast. Then I called the seller, who fortunately gave me an immediate exchange with the promise of a full refund if I'm not completely satisfied with the replacement unit. Honestly, I suspect the real reason Toro went to a metal impeller was because all the bad press associated with their Model 51586 that was recalled twice due to the plastic impeller disintegrating and injuring a few users with flying debris. The variable-speed motor is a decent feature, but I ended up running mine at maximum speed almost all the time except for very small, tidying-up jobs.

The way the plastic parts attach together is nothing short of ingenious, with virtually no way they can wear out even under heavy use. So I've not yet given up on the Toro Model 51599, maybe my first one was just a lemon; but, don't assume as I did that just because it's more expensive, has the same 2-year unlimited warranty, and has a metal impeller that this blower-vac is as solid or as rugged as Toro's earlier models. First, I called Toro customer service, who gave me the option of either shipping to them in Minnesota the main power unit (at my own expense, of course) for a free replacement or taking it to a local factory-authorized servicer about 10 miles away. The first time I turned it on, I wasn't even sure it was running it was so quiet - but that didn't last. I hadn't used this one 10 hours before it started to get noisier - barely noticeable at first, but with each use it got noisier and noisier.
