Total Annihilation: Commander Pack
The critically acclaimed real-time strategy game Total Annihilation is relatively old, but its detailed 3-D graphics and advanced gameplay elements are standing up well to the test of time. The 3-D units are animated so well they are a treat to watch, and, since they consist of several different components, explosions are spectacular. Instead of seeing the same 2-D explosion graphics found in nearly every other game of this type, players are treated to pieces of machinery being scattered every which way. It's fun to just sit back and witness a pitched battle. The diverse terrain is realistically modeled, with gradual elevation changes and lots of interactive elements like trees that burst into flames when struck with a mistimed shot. There are many ground, naval, and aerial units to develop in the game, regardless of what side you are controlling--nearly 250 when they are tallied up. Units gain experience as they fight, so you'll want to shepherd your forces wisely and repair them often in order to gain a competitive edge. This Commander Pack comes with the original game, the excellent Core Contingency add-on pack, and a copy of Total Annihilation: Battle Tactics, a version of the game aimed at entry-level players looking for some quick action. I suggest when you get this game (Which you better do), download an improved AI for the skirmishes. And get the Conflict Crusher to fix any problems. If I had to choose one game to be nominated as "The Best Game on the Planet" I would choose this one. Even after you're done with the every mission, skirmishes never get old and don't get me started on the multiplier >(better than life).
It will add even more playing time and make it even more of a challenge. This game is defiantly worth it. I got this game when was 9, so I've been playing it for 10 years now. Look for the highest rated units on http://unituniverse.com/. It has a great shoreline backed up with a lot of missions so you will get some good playing time out of it.
There are little complaints here. Seriously. The only thing I didn't like was that both ARM and CORE (the main races in the game) share exactly the same units. But this weakness wanes when compared to the shear fun, joy, and overwhelming action and strategy this game emanates. If you don't have time to play it, then at least make it part of your library just for the shear respect. It is truly one of the best games of all time and a worthy contender of a timeless classic. The developers of Total Annihilation did a superb job of putting all the elements of classic strategic warfare and making it all fun to play, and enjoyable either in single or multi-player.
IT'S ONES OF THE BEST RTS GAMES, USING A REAL 3D MODEL, I'M BROUGTH THIS GAMES A FEW YEAR AGO, BUT SINCE I CHANGE A CITY ANOTHER I LOST MY CD'S, SO, CAN LIVE WITHOUT MY TOTAL ANIHILATION, SO I DECIDED TO BROUGHT AGAIN.
The missions are split into three (if I remember correctly) categories based on approximate time needed to complete them. I played Total Annihilation (and its expansion packs) for approximately 3 years. A classic that any fan of RTS games will enjoy. Not all the missions are short. One of my favorite games of all time. There is STILL an active community online, and many, many user-made mods and extra units. Battle Tactics, the second expansion pack of the game (not a separate version) is a missions expansion pack featuring a LOT of stand-alone, separate missions (in other words, not part of a larger story).
Though I haven't played it in awhile, I might just go ahead and play it again. Even the skirmishes are addicting. The story line and gameplay are all amazing. Total Annihilation is an awesome game. Like I said in the title, it can be described as 'Awesomeful', breaking grammar in a couple ways.
