This product is exactly what you would expect for the price. It definitely works, but its a little slow. However, given the price - doesn't bother me very much. Great buy.
I find that the speed is quite acceptable. I've been using the flash drive for close to a year, and have had no problems. At the current price level as of Dec, 2008, they are a real bargain.
I have a number of flash drives including the 2gb Transcend. What a disappointment. This 8gb model is the slowest of any of my drives.It is easily 10-20x slower than a just average speed 8gb Sandisk.
I don't know but I do know I am going going to buy another Transcend JetFlash drive I finally emailed Amazon and they said they were going to credit my credit card, I bought the item on sale and did not want my money back I wanted a working flash drive unit which seemed to be too hard for Amazon to give me. This turned out to be a horrible transaction for me. The drive failed the day after I got it, Transcend told me they would honor the warrenty but it would take weeks to replace and I would have to pay for shipping. So I processed a return through Amazon and I NEVER got a replacement unit. They suggested I go through Amazon. Maybe they had SO many defective units they could not fill the replacement order.
but it is slower. So if your looking to use ready-boost on your vista machine it would be better to get the smaller faster drive. Ready-boost can only use GB of space to speed the system up anyways so with this GB version you get 4 GB to boost and 4 for storage. This thumb drive works great but does not run as fast as the GB version from Transcend. Transcend makes a good product and the price was right but I had to take a point away for speed.
