True Crime: Streets of LA Reviews

after that, it's already repetetive. Kill civilians as you may, and no cops will ever come after you.

The game is fun for about 10 minutes. I recently bought this game on Amazon because I remembered playing it a few years ago and loving it.

otherwise, avoid at all costs. And don't get me started on the driving mechanics.

That was probably the worst way to waste 1 dollar. You also lose points for every civilian killed.

I mean, if you dig being the big bad cop friskin' people on the sidewalk, by all means, purchase this game. And if you're looking for an alternative to the Grand Theft Auto series (as I was), then keep looking.

Being a games journalist I come across a lot of video games on a daily basis. It's a fun game for the most part. But the numerous missions and non-loading make for an enjoyable, Mature-oriented experience. Graphically True Crime looks terrible. So playing a game like this was a bit refreshing insofar that it managed to spark and retain the interest of the gamer. All too often most developers get lazy with keeping the pace and entertainment values high, but that certainly didn't happen with this game. Easily it's not the best looking Xbox game.

The physics are fake, the cars whip around turns like their tires are glued to the road. You can go around and flash your badge at people (or criminals), pat them down, and arrest themwhether you're solving a crime, doing a mission, or just roaming. While the story line is pretty dull, the cut scenes are pretty well done and realistic enough. The graphics aren't stunning, but aren't horrible either. I will say that the car damage in this game is pretty cool at times, but that hardly redeems it. It's strangely satisfying and has great potential.

Unlike 99% of racing game on the Xbox, this game doesn't use the R-trigger as your gas pedal. Overall, good, innovative idea, bad outcome (mostly resulting from poor gameplay and controls). The gameplay is horrible. It takes getting used to, but is just the tip of the iceberg in regards to how screwed up the controls are (but luckily this is adjustable). Instead, you use the A button. Firing weapons can be pretty haphazard; to fire the weapon you pull and release the R-trigger, but to go into slow-mo sniper mode you hold the R-trigger in for a split second longer.

It's bad design. The driving in this game is a nightmare, and not even close to realistic. So why the 2-star rating. There seems to be a good number of cars in the game, and obviously a huge area to explore. If you can get it nice and cheap, it might be worth a try, but otherwise don't waste your time. When you're running down a bad guy and trying to fire your weapon, and you accidentally hold the R-trigger down for more than an instant, it goes into that slow-mo sniper mode and throws everything off.

As another reviewer mentioned, the camera angle is always screwing up, and you'll find yourself constantly trying to adjust it just to see what's going on. The idea for this game is a good one.

Even a policeman might even enjoy this game if they played it for 5 minutes or so. I just got this game today and I think it's super fun indeed. I'm the kind of guy that's into crime so I stop crime whenever I see it in the game.

I don't like the game at all the driving sucks really bad why don't thay take some tips from a game like flatout or something cuz the driving really sucks bad and theirs ghosts in the game thats so stuped I thought a grand theft auto kind of game but then theirs ghosts poping up thats dumb im glad I paid $4 for it only or I would be mad I say don't buy it get a game thats been make better the graphics suck to the only thing I like is the kung fu fighting and cuffing people on the street so I say forget this and get a grand theft auto. fean
