Turtle Beach EarForce X1 Wired Headphones for Xbox 360 Reviews
I bought these to use with my xbox 360 and loved them at first. What a disappointment. I checked the other side and it was cracking in the same exact spot. Then I noticed that one side was cracking (thinner plastic part on side) and when I put them on, the part that was screwed together (see the pictue to see the screws) pulled apart and I couldn't wear them. They lasted about 2 months. I went to their website and checked out their warranty and was surprised that the "warranty" doesn't seem to cover anything at all.
I was looking for a headset for night time gaming on Xbox live, and this seems to be the recommended model. Needless to say I returned it. When plugged in there was a constant hissing sound even when I turn the volume down. As another reader suggested it could have been the controller design, or simply the poor materials chosen to build the electronics for this thing. In a brief summary, great sound through the headphones (although a little hissing), but the terrible way the chat voice is brought out makes this a no no for multiplayer gaming, which is why I bought it in the first place.
Since the headset sports a great bass output, EVERYONE's voice turned into this deep mumble that did not resemble speech, even after I toyed with all the different possible settings (volume, headset vs. The wire clutter was expected, but mind you, it has three cables (mic, sound, and USB for power) that are each 10 feet or so, so it could get a little crazy. I highly recommend trying it or buying it somewhere where returns are simple. speaker output, etc.). I just could not understand a word that people were saying through Live.
My biggest upset was with the chat feature for xbox live.
Other than that, not a bad buy. Not great, but better than your average tv speakers. At first I was impressed, but over time I grew uncomfortable with it. First off, it is just akward to set up. Other than what I have mentioned, this headset is not half bad. The mic cord is flimsy and sometimes it will buzz when plugged into my controller. This is the first headset I have purchased. I bought this to control the volume during my daytime and night time gaming sessions.
Sure, you will most likely be fine if you simply game at you house, but moving this around to game at lands or tourneys will most likely break. It is powered by a usb adapter and takes up space.
You can not tell if something is behind you, beside, or in front with these. Not a bad purchase if you are dying for a headset, but if you want something with a little more quality in sound, comfort, and construction, save up for a different headset.
The sound is not bad. Secondly, I do not feel that it is constructed to last through the rigors of gaming.
I am giving this three stars for stereo speakers, poor construction, and usb power. This is unacceptable.
The sound is stereo, which is not bad, but it is nothing special.
For $49.99, they are a great deal. Lol. The only negatives in my opinion are: more cables and if it is very warm in the house, you will sweat around the ears. They have great sound and are very comfortable. Well, global warming is a scam anyway, so crank up the air conditioner and the sweating won't be an issue. You can use the headphones and home theater at the same time however, it's pointless considering you are wearing headphones. I like the fact that the game and online chat volumes can be adjusted separately.
I love them. Give them a try. Just the occasional outburst from me, as some knucklehead gets the better of me. There are also times when playing quietly is a necessity.
I sometimes have a hard time hearing my friends, with the standard Xbox 360 headphones. I just got these headphones the other day. No more family and friends tossing and turning all night, due to explosions and gunfire. Using these headphones at night, when people are trying to sleep is great.
I have a high end home theater system and I wondered if I would like using these headphones, instead of my 5.1 system. Now, I can hear them crystal clear and they say my voice sounds much more clear as well. Well, 5.1 sound is amazing however, for me being able to chat and hear people is very important, especially when teamwork is necessary in a game.
Make sure to watch out for the puck because it is very easy to break the communication on this particular device. this headset was a very good deal for someone who has needs for a very good quality product. Very good product.
