Installed the card into my computer and booted into Ubuntu and everything was setup already without any input from me. I got an Creative XFi for my new computer that I build (this was few months ago) but Creative doesn't have any support for Linux (I use Ubuntu), so I promptly returned the card. I high recommend this sound card. I had beautiful sound and my music, movies, and anime never sounded better. After a bit of research I decided to buy the Turtle Beach Riviera. Let me tell you it has been my best choice for a sound card. After months of using the on-board sound card (it was ok not that great) I decided to buy a new sound card.
I purchased this card for the purpose of passing through Dolby Digital from my Home Theater PC to my external Sony amplifier. You are on your own using it. I could never get anything but 2 channel stereo to work. I eventually learned the card by design DOES NOT pass through Dolby Digital as advertised but instead down converts it to 2 channel PCM.
Although not stated, there is no warranty and it is not supported by Turtle Beach. This card is an OEM product. I spent weeks trying different decoders and software to no avail. I replaced the card with a different brand and it worked immediately without any effort other than selecting S/PDIF output.
After a weekend of frustration trying to use the built in sound on my new.,.@#@^$%& mobo i finally broke down and purchased this Turtle Beach product. A great value sound card that performs like it cost alot more. manufacturers were OK, but since i just wanted sound for basic games and video , i thought , "why not.". My experiences with other sound card. The card installed without a problem, provides great sound, a joystick port and MIDI in interface (cable not provided).
This is a very nice pci sound card, and it produces quality audio.
