Ultra X-Connect 500W Power Supply Unit PSU Black XVS500 V-SERIES ULT33135 Reviews

The motherboard, the video card and the other HD survived, so I'm assuming voltage is OK to those (at least the right polarity), but will test to make sure. The first PSU I got worked well and my system was actually running a bit faster.until it nearly had a meltdown. I purchased this PSU to replace a weak 250W unit so I could run multiple hard drives and a video card. The modular design is nice, and it's easy to configure, but make no mistake - it is a low-end power supply with the potential to seriously damage your system when it develops problems. Installed the second unit and instantly lost the first hard drive in the power circuit, presumably due to a bad SATA power cable that came with the PSU. I swapped the old one back in and waited for a replacement PSU (BTW, Amazon is really good about replacements).

Based on my experience I can't recommend this product to anyone - it's just too risky. The HD was completely shorted out. The PSU fan didn't work and it got really hot (but didn't shut down).

You get what you pay for, and 380 'actual' Watts is plenty for all but dual video card gamers. However, mine failed after 8 months of intermittent use, taking out my new motherboard and also my old motherboard that I used as a backup (thought I overclocked my new board too far and fried it, but it was the PSU). Thats what I get for going cheap I guess. I could only pull 390 watts from it when I tested it, but thats in the ballpark for lowend PSU's.

No power issues yet. I put this unit in a core 2 duo pc that had a failed power supply. The modular cables are nice as you don't have to have the extras just laying around in the case. 4 hard drives, 8800gt, DVD burner and 3gb ram. I definitely recommend this PSU.

not ideal for enthusiasts who have lots of stuff to power. Cons: not ideal for enthusiasts who overclock. This is a wonderful power supply for the price and for average users, however, do not buy this power supply if you plan on overclocking at all. I needed at least 500 watts and couldn't beat the price of this one so I thought I'd give it a shot. It was constantly restarting on me in the middle of emails and anything else I tried to do. It's reliable and effective. Otherwise, this will work wonders.

modular cabling aways makes things more neat. enough power connectors for the average user. stable power output. This PSU could be perfect for the majority of users out there. I finally narrowed the cause of the problem down to my power supply. Bottom Line: This is a great power supply for the price.

Everything is working nicely now and I can get back to business. It could also use a few more 4-pin molex connectors; I ran a little short when hooking up water pump and case fans. Pros: enough power for the average user. I needed one quick and one with enough juice to fuel my system. can't beat the price at this level of power. Installed very easily and booted up on the first attempt. Make sure your components that need power don't outnumber the amount of connectors included in this PSU.

My computer had been having some major issues with power. However, if you built your own system and you have lots of components and/or you overclock your system, you should just do your research and be ready to spend the extra money for a PSU designed for high-end systems. This unit just isn't delivering the correct voltages to my chips when overclocking. I usually research every component I buy but I was in a hurry and saw the few reviews for this PSU.

Very nice, has plug in wiring so you dont have extra wires hanging around in your case that you dont need. Seems to be of excellent quality
