Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Digital Answering System with Caller ID and Extra Handset and Charging Cradle Reviews
I bought this phone to replace old answering machine and cordless phone and I am really pleased with it. I like the answering machine it really is easy to use and the phone to.
The phone has great features. That's where the good part ends. The main middle button that controls the majority of the great features stopped working on the phone we used the most in the kitchen. So I switched with the phone in the basement. After a very short time the button stopped working on that one too. I haven't had the phone for very long and now the battery life is very short. My wife likes to have the phone near her so she doesn't have to get up to answer it but it's not near a charger so the battery goes dead quick. Most of the time we are having to deal with dead batteries. I'm not going to mess with Uniden or VTech anymore. It looks like the leaders in cordless Phones are Panasonic and AT&T.
Purchased two sets of Uniden phones last year because of the headset compatibility. Very quickly I had issues. The port which houses the brass headset jack is encased in plastic. If you move around (as I do) and the headset cord catches, the port becomes loose and will not hold the headset jack in place. The result is horrible reception and static. I have irritated a host of friends due to these phones! Why would a phone be engineered with plastic housing for metal parts which can not withstand normal wear and tear? Engineers should be more sensitive to major stress points. Uniden did replace the phone with a different model, but the engineering is the same and the problem resurfaced within 6 weeks.
Also note they will not warranty the phone if you use a non-Uniden headset!
While the Uniden technician informed me that this was a rare occurrence, I don't believe I am the only one as I am not hard on appliances AND it happened to three separate sets (I am not referring to handsets...I mean sets with 3 to 4 phones)! Headset users beware!
This will be the last Uniden phone I will purchase ( I've been a loyal Uniden customer for years). I'm off to the store for new phones!!! (If I sound frustrated, I am!)
I have had this phone for about 2 years now and the "out of range" is annoying! Now, the worst thing...the main navigation buttons in the middle of the phone is going out. It has already gone on the phone that we use the most in the living room, so I switched phones, now it is going out on the second phone... The up barely works. It is mostly annoying because I can't use the memory caller feature or the caller id. Don't buy this phone!
I purchased this phone system and I must say it is worthless. The only thing I like about it was the size.
