Compatible with all Uniden DECT 6.0 digital expandable systems, the Uniden DWX207 set includes a waterproof accessory handset and charging cradle. The handset meets JIS7 waterproof specifications, which means it can be submersed in up to one meter (3.28 feet) of water for 30 minutes without damage. This system is also impact and dust resistant, so it can truly stand up to wear and tear. For smooth, dependable operation, the DWX207 utilizes DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) 6.0 technology for interference free reception. Additionally, the high visibility message waiting indicator lets you know immediately after you've received a message, and the caller ID/call waiting features display the name and number of the caller in call waiting even when you're already on the phone. (Note: to activate the caller ID features, you must subscribe through your telephone company.) The advanced phonebook feature stores up to 70 names and offers alphabetical search capabilities, and you can choose among several unique ringers and assign them to specific callers so you'll know who's calling before you pick up the phone. I purchased this to use in my wood shop. It is exactly what I needed for a dusty environment. The only negative is that it does not hang on the wall.
I am going to have to disagree with another review, my phone works perfect at my neighbors house so range is no issue. I am on half an acre and can use it anywhere without issue. I have several computers, cellphones and a wireless networks with no interference. Transferring numbers from one phone to another is an awesome feature. I/we take it out to the spa and have had no issues. I haven't dropped it in the water but I did leave it under the spa cover over night with an abundance of condensation and no issues. Seems to maintain a charge very well. One thing I did notice but expected is that you can't charge it from another base. It appears it doesn't charge when the battery is full, thus giving the battery longevity. A great phone especially at the price. I use it with the Uniden dect 2185 which is wonderful as well.
Surprisingly, Uniden usually has great products with ease of use. Not in this case. The unit would not register with the base unit I purchased. Uniden's customer service is good and I was told to return this unit after going through trying to register the unit with customer service directing me. It is a great idea and I would try it again if I could purchase another unit.This is a waterproof handset.
This phone is great for my husband's workshop. Which is mostly dusty and dirty, not so much water. But a tougher phone seemed better than the lightwieghts you uise inside.
Thhis phone is very nice. One small issue we had was with the initial charging and pairing back with the base. The phone charges through magnetic induction- there are relly no outside contacts. The instructions say to use the attached plastic prong piece to push into the phone on the bottom. This "sets" it in order for it to charge. If you don't get it "pushed" in enough- you will never really get a good enough charge. After about 48 hours of trying to charge it- I took a paperclip- bent out so I had a prong and pushed it into the slot. ( Be Careful- you *don't* want to pierce the rubber cover.) This finally got it set, and after that it charged very quickly and has been working like a charm. I know this is an awkward explanation- but if you get one- you will see what I mean aboutthe phone and the instructions. Their little plastic piece enclosed is just not long enough to get the job done. Otherwise you will like this.
If you're the type of person that speaks so loudly, people stare... this is the phone for you. If you're not yelling, they can't hear you on the other end. I suggest trying two cans and a string for better reception. Their customer service, 2nd only to nothing at all... Good luck... FYI, think I am exaggerating, try their website. Links that go nowhere, ambiguous FAQ's, and the list goes on.
