A three-handset cordless phone system from Uniden, the DXI5586-3 delivers both signal quality and a useful set of features. Utilizing 5.8 GHz extended range technology, the DXI5586-3 is able to offer clearer reception and greater range than many 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz phones. Plus, the two additional handsets include individual charging cradles, so you can place them anywhere you have a power outlet--no additional phone jack is required. Caller ID and call waiting compatible, the DXI5586-3 has a 30-number caller ID memory as well as 10 speed dial presets for your most frequently used numbers. With display-and-dial, you can call any displayed number simply by pressing the Talk button, while the auto-talk feature lets you answer the phone just by lifting the handset from its base. Handset and ringer controls allow you to adjust volume levels to your liking, and headset compatibility gives you the option of hands-free communication. A handset-to-handset call transfer feature lets you route incoming calls to the other handset location, and a page button makes finding a misplaced handset quick and easy. A voicemail waiting indicator lets you know when you have messages waiting, and the low-battery indicator alerts you when your batteries are running low. The DXI5586-3 is hearing aid compatible as well as wall-mountable for added placement options. Uniden offers a one-year limited warranty. Uniden DXI5586-3 5.8GHz Extended Range Triple Handset with Call Waiting/Caller ID Reviews
I've bought one DCT756-3 (2.4 GHz) for my mother in law before. DXI5586-3 has a very poor range.
You'd better buy an old DCT756-3, which is much better. It's great.
You'll waste your money and your time. I was expecting DXI5586-3 to be even better, since it's 5.8 GHz.
Any 900 MHz cordless phone you can buy for US$ 10 is better than DXI5586-3. Don't buy it.
It's not.
2 additional handsets require nothing additional in way of programming or operating. Excellant construction, good sturdy phone. Ease of transferring calls from handset to handset is one button great.
Just plug and go. Crystal clear reception. This is my fourth purchase of uniden and I have never had any trouble with them and they are good quality products.
Definetly recommend this phone. Range is good as well as you move away from the base, however outside, you are subject to interference from outside sources. Right out of the box easy to use, just charge the batteries.
I don't have enough usage to give a functionality report, but for the money and customer satisfaction reviews, this set had the most handsets for the price, with the best average review.
So if you want a completely basic phone set with no frills or extra features, go ahead and buy it. Someone in my family bought these phones to replace the 2 handset system we had when 1 of those 2 handsets stopped working. However, besides that they are useless. Also, you can't talk on more than 1 handset at a time (which is quite useful when 2 people in the house both want to be talking to someone, usually a relative). They do not have speakerphone (which is quite useful when you are on hold for 5+ minutes). The phones do work and are able to make/receive calls. If you want something useful, please do the research that my family member did not do and shop for something else.
Very convenient, with teens who are always walking off with my phone, we can't have too many phones in the house. They are cordless and no jack is required for the handsets. How anyone could think that just because you are purchasing multiple handsets you could make several calls at once is beyond me. The purpose of the multihandsets is convenience, ie. You would need to have multiple phone lines in the house, not phones. I put one by my TV chair so that I don't have to get up and go into the kitchen to answer the phone; I also keep another one in the laundry area.
