Uniden TRU 446-2 2.4 GHz Digital Spread Spectrum Caller ID Cordless Phone Reviews

I have owned Uniden telephones before & I will continue to purchase them. I have just under an acre of land, & I can walk all the way around my property with out any interruption. Great Product line. The telephone is comfortable to hold. But over all I am very happy. The Blacklit key pad is great. The only thing I wish the telephone had would be a speaker phone.

Every time I buy a new phone, I always end up buying a different brand in order to find the quality I am looking for. I would recommend no one purchase this phone. I purchased this phone to replace a single handset 900 Mhz Uniden phone that I loved. It is a great concern that you can not even count on consistency from the manufacturers of cordless phones. Since I am a gadget junkie I decided to go with the 2.4 Ghz, and to my surprise it was much worse. I read someone else's review that compared it to a cell phone, but my cell phone is more clear.

Funtionally, I'm able to do what I originally wanted. I have to bang it on the counter to get it to kick in. Once it works, it works fine. The headsets are not compatible even though they look identical. I'm happy with the headsets as they do what they are supposed to do. Nonetheless, I decided to keep them. Besides, I paid only $54 at Target for the TRU446-2.

So, instead of working as one base with four headsets, I really have two bases with two headsets each. I purchased the TRU446-2, because I wanted to add two more headsets to my existing Uniden TRU4485-2. Turns out the "-2" means that the maximum amount of headsets that will work with either base unit is two. I have a feeling this is a defect as I've seen this complaint in another review. My only complaint is one of the headsets voice goes out. Sound quality is not the greatest, but I've never had a problem hearing or speaking.

If it does, then I will give up on Uniden and buy a better quality system. However, I have to make sure the right headset goes on the right base. Of course, good idea, bad implementation. I'm hoping this does not occur on the other headsets.

What I like most about this phone is the extra hand set that does not need to be conected to a phone line. Edited on Dec 13 2004: After using the phones for almost a year. I will say I am happy with them BUT, If you have a wireless internet setup it will interfear with it and cause you to loose your connection. Al in all I feel that it was a great deal for $65. If you are shopping for a cordless be sure to get one that is a different MHZ than your wireless router. The only drawbacks are it is asmall phone so the buttens are tight and smal. As others have mentioned the charging station is a bit loose. The main phone is coneceted to a line and the expanded is not allowing it to be very mobile.

I have had it for over a year and have not seen any of the problems stated in the negative reviews. 2) You cannot transfer memory contents between phones as some product can. 4) While talking, the phone transmissions will conflict with most home wireless PC networks. On the plus side, it is a quality product with easy to use controls (as opposed to the Seimens units). This phone system is generally a good product.

The battery charge lasts longer than I've ever required. 3) It is no better in range than a quality 900MHz phone, but this is true of many 2.4GHz phones. The mute is relatively easy to use and the remote ear/mic jack is useful for headsets. It has some drawbacks though.

1) You cannot use two of these phones at once, they use the same receiver and therefore the first phone on occupies the line.
