The Uniden TRU9496 is thoughtfully designed for small businesses or homes that find two separate phone lines to be one of life's necessities. The system is expandable to include a total of 10 handsets with charging cradles (available separately). Combining a traditional corded handset with a 5.8 GHz cordless handset, the Uniden TRU9496 offers cordless convenience when you want it, but will continue to provide basic phone service in the event of a power outage. Only the base system with the corded handset requires a phone jack; any additional handsets simply require an electrical outlet to connect the charging cradle. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each cordless handset and the base speakerphone, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three dialed numbers at the touch of a button, activate five-way conference calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission. The base includes a fully digital answering system with up to 15 minutes of recording time. Additional features include an audible message alert, toll saver, remote message retrieval and a choice between personalized or prerecorded outgoing messages. With subscription to local service, the phone is compatible with Call Waiting Caller ID. It will display the name, number and date and time of each call on the backlit LCD, and will store up to 100 names with two numbers each, so you can return calls at the touch of a button. Even without Caller ID service, a phonebook stores 10 of your most frequently-dialed numbers. What's in the Box: Base with answering system, AC adapter, corded handset, charging cradle, cordless handset, telephone line cord, handset battery, battery cover, belt clip, printed user's guide, warranty card

Uniden TRU9496 2-Line Corded/Cordless Digital Answering System Reviews

Depress the "#" key on the unregistered 905 and it should register. One week later, I purchased 2 additional TCX905 handsets, charged them for 3 days, depressed the "#" key on each new 905 and they failed to register. 1. You should get the message on the base unit screen "press the # key on the remote handset". 3.

Line1 will be the normal copper in. 4. Bought the TRU9496 packaged with one TCX905 handset. Here was the solution:. One reason I selected the TRU9496 over the Panasonic KX TG6720B was that the base unit of the Uniden is corded and will work in a power failure. Will get back to you when my home setup is complete. I am buying another TRU9496 unit for my home. Uniden says whatever 905 handsets are packaged and sold with the base are pre-registered.

First, remove the battery cover on your unregistered TCX905 and look under the battery to confirm that you indeed purchased a TCX905 because some Uniden handsets were packaged as 905's but were not. Also, the documentation of the Uniden appeared to be better but download both and read them - it's a personal choice. 2. Something to keep in mind if you eventually intend to expand towards the max limit of 10 phones.

I'll be able to tell by the ring whether it's my landline or MagicJack. 5. Take the fully charged, unregistered 905 next to the base unit TRU9496.

Four stars because it's new to me but so far it looks like 5 stars. On the TRU9496 base unit press "Menu" then arrow down and select "Registration" then press OK. Line2 will be from my desktop PC's MagicJack device. I'll be free from having to make long distance phone calls tethered to my desktop (MagicJack) PC and will be able to call/answer on Line1/Line2 from anywhere I have a TCX905 remote (or carry it).

The last phone base died - apparently because of a power surge - but my wife liked the phone so much that she wanted an exact replacement. I was able to link the two cordless phones I had purchased as well as the cordless phone that came with the original base to the new base unit (although Uniden advised me that that would not be possible). Overall this is a functional system and performs as advertised. This was purchased to replace the same model phone which was purchased about eighteen months ago.

The setup and menus are pretty intuitive, and there have been no problems with either the base unit or the 3 cordless handsets (we bought 2 extra). The only complaint is that there is sporadic static that I can't blame on range or interference. This phone is well-designed, and all the bits seem to be weighted and balanced well. Overall, though, this system is better than the one from Siemens that it replaced.

The sound quality is atrocious, most conversations deteriorating into a "What." "WHAT." scream. The backlighting is convenient, and there seems to be a very good balance between easy of use and flexibility. (Of couse, I tried different locations of the base unit). The major players seem to be Uniden, Panasonic, and ATT. Because several of the handsets, now irreplacable, have broken over the years I looked to see what was out there. I have to say that I love all aspects of the system except for one. The ability to create individual banners was effortless.

The intercom and message unit intuitive. There was constant static. I have had a two line multi-handset telephone for my home use for several years. It is a well thought out instrument. So, two stars: three stars for design, but one removed for function.

Although the reviews for each of the systems are mixed, I went with the Uniden, in part because the reviews were slightly better, and in part because it was a little less expensive, in part because it could take 10 units, as opposed to 8. The range is miniscule. Ultimately, the decision to return the system was easy I absolutely could not make it work minimally; that is, be able to make and receive calls throughout my house.

Conversations would periodically drop out. The phone signal did not reach all rooms of the house, or even my back porch. My wife would give it one star, since she is less enamored by design, and more inconvenienced by having to ship this disaster back.

This is less than acceptable, which would include making calls from my porch; and much less than superior, which would include the ability to make and receive calls from all rooms, and my backyard. The writing is clear. The handsets are comfortable and easy to use.

Unfortunately, the one problem is that it is works terribly, at least in my house.

There is no differnece in quality or features and I owned this system for over 6 months now. Works as well as any panasonic but for 60% less cost. This is a great phone. Additional handsets currently $29.00 vs $79.00 for Panasonic. I have owned both and this Uniden is definitely the one to buy.
