IT HAS NOW BEEN ALMOST TWO MONTHS OF PHONE CALLS AND FRUSTRATION AND I STILL HAVE NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT. THEY TOLD ME IT HAD BEEN CHANGED TO A 1 YEAR AND HUNG UP ON ME. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. I PERSISTED AND TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS NOT LEGAL TO CHANGE A WARRANTY. I WAS FINALLY GIVEN AN RMA NUMBER AND I MAILED MY MONITOR BACK 5 WEEKS AGO. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO FAX INFO (HAD TO DO IT TWICE) TO PROVE I HAD A 3 YEAR WARRANTY AFTER SEVERAL MORE FRUSTRATING CALLS.
I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A REPLACEMENT IN 2 WEEKS. AFTER 3 WEEKS, I CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T HAVE A REPLACEMENT UNIT FOR ME AND I WOULD JUST HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY GOT ONE. THEY ARE LIARS. STAY AWAY FROM VIEWSONIC AND OPTIQUEST. I CALLED AND TOLD THEM I HAD A 3 YR WARRANTY. MY MONITOR WENT BLACK SHORTLY AFTER ONE YEAR (WHICH SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH THEIR PRODUCT).
It started making a weird, warbling electronic hum as the computer started.
By the way, written inquiries to ViewSonic have gone ignored.
The image would flicker and dim and finally just went black.
Nice monitor while it lasted, but when measuring cost versus useful lifetime - this monitor is a very poor value.
I had owned the monitor for sixteen months.
Very dissatisfying experience, both in terms of product quality and customer service.
I plugged it into another computer to make sure that it was truly the monitor and it was.
I was among the chorus singing the praises of this monitor until the weekend before Christmas when the monitor died.
I have purchased dozens of the Optiquest Q9b for my business. So far not a single problem, and a great picture quality.
Product is superior, quality and size, etc. Very good response time with delivery. (Optiquest 19" flat screen monitor).
I purchased this Q9b to replace a 19" CRT which hogged the desk space. I now have a desk with room to set papers on. The image is brighter with no loss of resolution and marginally larger then the CRT's. I expect quality products at a good price from Viewsonic and I was not disappointed. The built in speakers are as I expected, not of high fidelity but adequate for speech.
