ViewSonic PF790 Perfectly Flat 19" CRT Monitor Reviews

They shipped me a replacement within 24 hours and I was impressed - until I opened the box. So someone at ViewSonic had deliberately sent be a badly damaged monitor. One that doesn't care much about its customers for sure. The unit had clearly been dropped on to a hard surface. Note that this hadn't happened in transit because the packing was still in perfect condition. Now what sort of company sends out replacement units that are clearly dead. I'm waiting for the phone lines to open to request another.

No damage this time, but it didn't work either. I got another replacement 4 days later. Then the screen started jumping in and out. The case was cracked and it blew up when I applied the power. My ViewSonic monitor was excellent for nearly a year - a nice crisp bright picture. Even if I do eventually get a replacement that works, I won't be buying from ViewSonic ever again.

Several more weeks went by, and after three more phone calls to their customer service department, they finally shipped me a "new" monitor. I contacted their customer service department, who told me that they had not received the monitor, even though I had proof of delivery from UPS two weeks before. My ViewSonic PF790 quit working entirely when it was 7 months old my only option for repairing it was to return it directly to ViewSonic in California. First there was the $80 shipping cost (the monitor weighs 55 pounds)., and then I heard nothing for weeks. They told me I could return that one for another one (at my expense for the shipping, of course), but I decided to forget it.

DO NOT BUY ViewSonic. It turns out that the "new" monitor they shipped me was a reconditioned used monitor which has some big problems with the picture tube. So I'm spreading the word Viewsonic [is terrible] and their monitors aren't any better. That's my advice. They then made excuses about being out-of-stock on replacement monitors amd promised to send one as soon as they could.

From what I've been told, they are fine wires that ensures the virtual flatness or something to the effect. I've not been sorry thus far. As a web designer, I rely on vivid images and clarity with a monitor.

The ViewSonic PF790 (Professional Series) has been a workhorse for me both at work and at home. I cannot use glare guards due to the nature of my work nor is it necessary. The one I have at home is a 2002 model and I've noticed a few changes with more ways to tweak the viewable screen with more functionality. I selected it over the Sony after viewing various monitors at a local shop.

I see no reason to purchase a Sony when the ViewSonic gives me the same quality for a lower price. The only thing I don't like about the 'trinitron' technology is that you'll notice two very thin lines near the top quarter and another on the bottom quarter of the screen horizontally. My monitor at work is a '99 model and I have yet to experience any problems with it. After seeing it on all virtually flat screens of other monitors, I knew it was the technology, not the manufacturer.

I appreciate the flatness of the screen and coating used as I never experience glares. However, the annoyance is a minor detail that most users might not likely ever notice.I recommend this product and particular model if you want a nice quality flat monitor in the 19" range.

Hehehehe crazy people. I actually own three of these, because the display's colors are excellent, and when the light is on it, there is no glare. I have never used such an excellent monitor for such a great price. I hope Viewsonic never discontinues this monitor, as I think it is their best one, for the price. No glare, folks. It is a flat screen with no glare, so if sun is on it, you will still be able to see your monitor and will still be able to work on your computer. It's funny that the only bad reviews for this monitor come from three people that recommend Sony over Viewsonic for some reason. ViewSonic is THEE company for monitors.

I bought this specific model because ViewSonic has always been well know for putting out top-quality monitors with affordable prices. I feel bad for the negative reviewers, experience with faulty equipment can sour one's perception of a credible manufacturer.

Although for some odd reason my monitor will let me go even higher at 1920 x 1200 pixels, although that may have something to do with the graphics card I'm using. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is that it weighs about 55lbs. and takes up a good amount of deskspace. I bought the PF790 six months ago and I haven't had a single problem since.CAD and 3D designers on a budget, like myself, should look to this model. All I can say is do some heavy research and make sure that whatever devices you plan to hook up your computer are compatible with one another.

This 19" monitor is great on the eyes for it's non-reflective/non-glare and the screen is perfectly flat. I say that because I've owned a ViewSonic monitor before, and they're just great. The colors are vivid, and there's a number of controls to adjust is viewability. I can run this monitor at a high resolution of 1600 x 1200 with a low refresh of 60 Hertz without any problems.
