ViewSonic VG2230WM 22-inch Black Widescreen LCD Monitor Reviews
Just got the ViewSonic monitor for 1 year, and it breaks. I have such a bad experiences with ViewSonic, I will never purchase any products from them ever again. Please be aware when you buy any of ViewSonic's products. ViewSonic CANNOT PRODUCE MONITOR LAST LONGER THAN ONE YEAR. The representatives were very rude, they even hang out on me. I called ViewSonic'Scustomer service, absolutely terrible customer service.
Especially since there are no connections on the monitor for satellite speakers. And one more thing. That counts for a lot in my book. Do you wear glasses that have magnification in the lower portion. Someone needs to start designing computer desks that allow monitors to be set down on a lower platform. Also, the on board speakers are very inadequate. And even now, I still have to tip my chin up. They make a good monitor.
They have pretty good customer support via on-line chat. First up, I'll admit my Viewsonic is not this exact model but the VX2035 that preceded it. It's Ergonmics 101. After having always had satellite speakers with great sound, this was a real disappointment.
So many computer and software companies fail miserably in this oh-so important area. The wide screen gives your image a slightly stretched display. They must be connected directly to the computer if you want to add them. One more thing. But it appears that the stuck pixel thing has happened to more than one reviewer. I had a stuck pixel dead center right out of the box. True of all wide screens I'm sure. I'm done.
If you want it to be more to true scale, your display shrinks considerably. Thanks to one of them for mentioning using jscreenfix to try and resolve that. For the over 40 user with presbyopsia, screens really need to be in a lower position then they are when they are big to begin with and then perched up on top of a stand. Not blaming this on ViewSonic. I had to remove the monitor from the stand to sit it directly on my desk top so I wouldn't have a sore neck all the time from tipping my head back to look at the screen through the reading portion of my glasses. OK. I will say this for ViewSonic.
Tomorrow I'm supposed to get a new monitor. Just recently, exactly one year after i purchased it, this monitor is no longer detectable by either my laptop or pc. Other Thoughts: If your willing to wait over a month and dealing with customer service who tries to schmooze you into additional days of RMA, then this monitor is for you. Except for plug and play issues, you can read about online if you search. They are not sure which model will be shipped and can't tell me when the will receive replacement parts.
The last 3 days I've called have been the 14th day. (two months without a monitor or more). This monitor was great for the 11 months it worked for me. If i had known this about View Sonic's customer service, i would have chosen a different monitor. I sent it back to view sonic, and its been over 14 business days, they keep giving the run-around. Luckily, i kept my tracking number to prove to them they received it on the 20th, and not the 25th like they forced me to believe.
They automatically tried adding 5 days to my RMA status instead of honoring the arrival date. Also the replacement model will take about 7 to 10 business days to ship back. Well see what happens. Yesterday i was supposed to as well. They have no problem changing the date if you keep your tracking number.
I wrote to the CEO James Chu the day after it stopped working; I have got no response yet(3 weeks now). When she powers it on, the screen cycles thru what appears to be a diagnostic(primary colour screens - about 5). About 3 weeks ago, it stopped working. I am a physicist/trader and have approx 16 displays which run 10 hrs/day weekdays - mostly Samsung now. for abt 2-3 hrs each day.
CEO's of technology product companies need to study the case of Dell - and what the consequences of ignoring customer feedback can be(Google Jeff Jarvis, 'Dell Hell'). I find this customer callousness apalling.I will not buy anymore Viewsonic products. I am happy with Samsung LCD reliability. I purchased a 20inch N2010 LCD TV three years ago(2005); my wife had it on.
If I had the choice between using these two monitors on a older laptop or purchasing a top-of-the-line laptop with only one monitor I would take these two monitors with my existing computer older laptop, no contest. These monitors have good picture quality and reliable. Now I'm considering a third. I likeed this monitor so much I purchased a second.
