Visioneer Strobe XP 100 Sheetfed scanner (Windows) Reviews

it is reasonably fast in Gray and Black white mode. Color can be slow and noisy. Image is not perfectly straight most of the times.

It is very portable and very useful for a person wants to carry while on the road. Of course it is not possible to preview and scan with any sheet feed scanner Wish price could be less than $100 for this product. Soft ware of Paperport is very good has very useful feature in Folder management. The sheet should be properly fed if not the scanning image will not be straight.

The current price of $179.00 is a bit high. Lacks the preview of image before scanning as it is possible in Flat bed.

    S. I must print, sign and scan docs twice a week. First time I tried to use it on the road, it was totally dead. Bought the Road Warrior, installed it, worked fine.

This is my second Visioneer scanner in three months. Then it stopped working. I will never, never buy Visioneer again. Uninstalled, reinstalled, etc.

Still dead. Same deal. So I bought this one (XP100), because I was leaving for a one year overseas trip, and needed it immediately.

(I agree with the warnings about difficulty in aligning pages to scan). Yes, I must be a glutton for punishment. Installed, worked fine.

Scans totally black. I'm now looking on Amazon for a robust portable scanner to have Fedexed to me overseas by my U. office, from another vendor.

Got a nice tech guy at a college where my kids are training to help, he got it working once. Next time I booted, dead again.

The instructions are inaccurate. I would look at other options before purchasing this. No driver is bundled with the install package and the Windows wizard was unable to locate a driver. I finally gave up on installing it after 2 hrs. The only reason I'm giving it one star is because there is nothing lower. The installation fairly annoying.

This product worked for about a month when I had to re-image my computer so I went ahead and had the disk sent to me (cost me money) and then they sent the calibration sheets to me (cost me money) and then they told me they sent me the wrong disk and they would have to send me the right one (and get this - they charged me for the second disc as well). If not, buy a product from their competitor. Unlike most companies that provide computer related equipment, you can't download the software from their website. You have to have them send you the disk and, as mentioned above, they charge you for it. What a lousy company to do business with. If you eenjoy being very frustrated with poorly trained customer service people and customer service people that reap some sort of joy out of pissing you off, then go ahead and buy it.

I took it to my faciliity, and it would not work. I suppose it'd work on my desktop, as well, but I'm afraid to try it. While scanning, it scanned everything in a solid black line. It attaches through a USB port on a laptop.

It is easy to use. I recalibrated it, and switched USB hubs, and it works. So, don't buy this scanner. Only when you have a peice of paper going in it. Which is why I'm giving it the one star it deserves. Frankly, I'm afraid of it. If you buy this, (and I'd shop around,) you must have a peice of paper going into the scanner, before you tell the computer you're scanning. If you donot have paper going into it, and select scan, the scanner will die and disinstall itself, and you have to recalibrate it.

If you disconnect the power source from the lap top, and you have the scanner plugged in, the scanner will not be found by the laptop. It's horrible. After installing it and configuring the scanner to the lap top, and caliberating it, and practicing with it, I figured it would be easy to use. If you have the mouse into anotehr USB port, the scanner has to be switched with the mouse, this happens too many times for me to be comfortable with it. I own this but didn't buy it, I was assigned it, brand new, by the company I work for.
