Voodoo Vince Reviews
have fun with it. I like this little guy, hes entertaining and fun, and if you think its easy its really not for most. and it will make you laugh and get you frustrated at the same time.
You are Vince, Madam Charmaine's 3rd best Voodoo doll, brought to life by a pair of blundering goons trying to steal a bottle of magic Voodoo powder. Basically, Voodoo Vince takes a page from Midevil and Psyconauts and uses rock solid game play with a total ascrewed off beat sense of humor. It is most certainly worth picking up (particularly now since the price has come down so much), and just letting yourself laugh outloud at all the random silliness contained within. While Vince has the classic jump, double jump and melee attacks, where he shines is in self-inflicted punishment. Combine that with his smart mouth, rather lazy attitude, and all out randomness it makes for a new twist on a classic idea. He has a variety of special attacks that hits him with some bizzare attack, resulting in him transfering it to all enemies in range (he is still a voodoo doll, after all).
("Something in here smells like sausage. If it is a puzzle board, then you are safe to wander around and try things out. Although this is a one-player game, we found that it is best played with a driver/navigator combo one person playing and trying to deal with whatever is coming at them, while the other person is watching carefully to try to see where the important parts of the board are hiding. It is exciting without being overwhelming. Everyone will find some of the boards to be *really* hard, because that particular type of board will be their weakness. I hope it's sausage.") Unlike most platformers, there are lots of totally unnecessary bits in the game to throw you off the trail In most games, when you see an item you can pick up, it always has some critical importance.
The humor in the game is really top notch, as are the voice-overs. What makes this game great is that the boards are highly varied (some are puzzle boards, some racing, some fighting, some action, some mazes, etc) but each board focuses on *one* thing. Between us, we can work through the game without getting frustrated. If it is a fighting board, then you beat the heck out of everything you see. I'm playing it with my nine year old, and it works out great. He's terrible at the methodical (puzzle) boards and the racing (agility) boards. I can't deal with the three- and four-button combos in the fight boards.
But not in this game.
Great game. First game I've bought that actually encouraged bonding between my kids and I.they loved watching me play it and clamored for "Voodoo Vince" quite often.
Lots of 'figuring out' things and of course it's set in New Orleans. This is a great game for all ages.
