Vtech ia5847 - 5.8 GHz Two Handset Coredless Phone Sytem w/ Caller ID Reviews

Maybe I've stumbled on to something here. Piece of junk phone(s). I don't blame Amazon, though. I have no other 5.4 gHz electronics in the house, so interference should not be a problem. They followed through in every way they should. So why did this happen with two identical items one right after another. Wait. Amazon promptly replaced the item at no charge.

I even disabled 2.4 gHz products to troubleshoot, but to no avail. I'd try calling them, but I'm sure the phone would drop the call before they picked up. I returned the item to Amazon as I figured it was defective. I will never buy anything else from VTech. This has honestly been the WORST item I have ever purchased from Amazon.

Maybe. Tried to contact VTech, but never got a response. Hmmm. When I received the new item, I got the exact same problem.

Most likely. This happened on both headsets and was independent on the number called and if I moved the base stations around the house. Simply put, this phone from VTech has no business being on the market.

Thank you, Amazon, though, for supporting your customers.even though the manufacturers apparently don't. Coincidence. When I first purchased this phone, within 1 to 5 minutes on a call, the phone would start "beeping" and the call would be dropped. CAVEAT EMPTOR with VTech.

Sound quality excellent. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of more expensive phones, but does the job.

Brought phone for the kids to use, its ok for short conversation. For some reason when your on the phone for a few minutes, here comes the static.

The phones work ok, but the wireless range seems to be less than the 5.8 ghz phones they replaced.

I suggest anyone looking for a basic phone to pass on this one. It picked up a conversation between two individuals crystal clearly. Vtech makes decent phones, but when they make CHEAP phones. I didn't expect this phone to have rock solid reception. they sure are cheap.

This phone serves its purpose as a basic analog 5.8GHz cordless phone and is worth what you pay for it. I don't remain on the phone long to measure continuous talk time. None at all I guess.

The static becomes a bit of a nuisance and conversations may not be safe from signal eavesdropping. You should not expect stellar performance and features from a $35 cordless telephone set. I guess this is because it is ANALOG and doesn't have advanced signal encryption.

The phone holds a charge for about a day and a half (not seven like stated in the manual) on standby. The phones suffer from static for no apparent reason, no matter what the distance from the base is. The caller ID works as it should.

I wanted to write this "review" because I've experienced something I didn't expect to occur on a phone that uses the 5.8GHz frequency - crosstalk.
