VuPoint FS-C1-VP Film and Silde Digital Converter Reviews

I recently bought this film and slide scanner to scan my grandfather's slide collection. The company ArcSoft charges $10.00 per phone call for tech support. I tried changing the settings to improve the image quality, but had no luck. You are better off making the investment on a nicer quality scanner. It bleaches out the image with too much light.

I loaded the software, despite getting an error, calling the company, and being told to proceed anyway. She advised me to use it with a desktop computer or return it and find another scanner.

She said due to a power issue, this scanner would not work with IBM computers and they've not been able to find a fix. I called the manufacturer back and the representative asked me if I was using an IBM computer and if I was using a laptop.

I was quite excited about using this product, and I read very good reviews elsewhere (should have checked AMAZON first).

When I tried to scan, the device was not recognized.

Anyone know one that works with an IBM T43 laptop.

On my system Vista Home Premium with 3GB RAM and USB 2.0. It also requires Windows XP, 1GB RAM and USB 2.0 for it to work properly. It would lockup the software and then I would need to uninstall the drivers, and the hardware and reinstall in order for it to work and then only for a short time. I am waiting for them to tell me who sells this model. This scanner is not Vista Certified per the manufacturer VuPoint Solutions. The manufacturer tells me that I need Model # FS-C1-VP-BX2. This is the Windows Vista certified model. Vendors do not tell you this.

That is an unfair standard from which to judge this product. Some people are complaining about output quality. I am not sure why people are having problems with this product. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. It seems to me that people are complaining becuase the included software does not turn old photos into modern hi-def pictures. I was able to convert all of my old slides into digital photos that will last forever over a single weekend.

User software was intuitive. Fantastic. Look, anytime you take a tiny slide and blow it up to modern hi-def proportions, the limitations of an old 20th Century slide are going to be magnified. Some people complain about the short manual I did not even need to look at the manual since this thing is so simple to use. It is literally: insert film or slide, point, and click. For me, installation was simple.

Such a project would have taken months using a conventional scanner. It could not get any easier than that.

I think this scanner is a wonderful product for 35mm slides or for negatives. However, I have slides I wanted to convert that date back to the 1950's and the adaptors they have don't work for these. The software is very user friendly and would work quite easily with the scanner.
