Westinghouse SK-26H590D 26-Inch LCD HDTV with Built-In DVD Player Reviews

I would buy it there in a heartbeat (same prices as listed on Amazon for what is mutually stocked - and you get to have it now). None of the buttons on the remote or TV worked. At first this seemed to work for a couple of days, but the problem returned and got progressively worse again. I go to Amazon when I cannot find it at Target. I was particularly impressed by the tuner sensitivity as it pulled in 28 analog channels and 24 digital channels off my attic antenna (I am about 30 miles out of NY City and also get Philly stations). Now if they only they had the model I wanted. I called the Westinghouse customer service and they walked me through the factory reset process, which forced me to reprogram all of my stored channels and configuration again. I acommodated all of my inputs from DVD, VCR, & ATSC.

One good thing I will say off topic is that Target seems to have the best return policy of any place (including Amazon, as far as I can tell) with a 90-day return allowance. Now for the bad news. After doing a local market survey of HDTV's that would fit my entertainment cabinet from the "old days" TV I gave to the Salvation Army, I liked the set of features and inputs best for the Westinghouse 26" HDTV. So I returned it to Target. Like other reviewers (wish I had read these earlier) I also had a persistent problem with total lockup from on-air signals. except that I discovered the old PC trick of holding down the power button for more than 5 seconds, after which the TV would "reboot" just like an old PC.

Good price for a good tv. Ordered this tv while deployed overseas, tv got to me in great shape and only took about 4 days from the time it was shipped.

Bought the TV in July 2007 and has been working pretty good until this week, and the DVD player is dead. Not even 9 months. So I'm worried that TV will die out now. Will never buy a combo function TV again. And it's not like I used it a lot and abused the TV. Also, the metal frame around the screen is not well made - you can see the slight bumps in the frame. The TV itself works fine, although a colleauge at work pointed out that the TV/VCR combos of yesteryear usually worked like this: the VCR gives out, with TV inevitably not too far behind. Very disappointed - it's not like it's an easy item to carry off to the repair shop or return - and I have to look for the warranty/manufacturer/user guide - anyone like to find that stuff after nine months of placing it in a drawer somewhere at home.

The same DVDs would play just fine on my stand alone Panasonic DVD player. It has been over a month since they received the TV and I'm still waiting for a new TV. Multiple phone calls to their customer support have been useless. I bought this TV at Target several months ago specifically for its size and the fact that it had a built-in DVD player. I will never buy a Westinghouse product again.

It would skip despite cleaning the DVDs and the laser lens of the DVD player. I am writing a letter to president of the Westinghouse requesting a full refund. They take your number and say that a supervisor will call you back. The supervisor then states that the problem is being resolved but gives no indication of when I will get back my TV. I was also told that I had to pay for the shipping which ended up being over $60.

Very soon after, the DVD player started having problems. After several months of problems, I called Westinghouse and was told that I should send the TV back and they would send me out a new TV within 5 business days. The supervisor never calls back requiring you to call again and wait on hold forever for a supervisor to come on the line.

Simple as that. On the plus side - this TV has a zillion inputs for a tv of its size.but some things are just too good to be true. Do not buy this TV. Had the same picture freezing problem as a previous reviewer; however, it is not due to the DVD player - mine freezes when using an over the air digital antenna. Has frozen 4 times now (twice just this morning) - and as soon as I can find the receipt and put this bad boy into the box, it is going back to Best Buy and I'm buying Sony. Also, it is not a power surge as both the TV and antenna are plugged into a brand new surge protector. And by frozen, I mean, you can't change the channel with the remote or with the buttons on the side of the TV - you end up having to hold down the power button on the tv and powering it down (much like a frozen PC computer). I know that it is not the antenna, as I use the exact same antenna on a Panasonic LCD TV and have never had a problem.
