World Poker Tour Reviews
This Is Way Better than the World Series Of Poker Game. You can play as any of the WPT Pros But in WSOP You Have to create your own player and on WPT you can play in real casinos but in WSOP you can only play in one. WPT is the best poker game you can buy A Age 14
I'm having fun with the game, but honestly they could have paid a couple of temps to do the talking with at least 100 different sentences instead of the 5 sentences the pros say in the game like "that's what poker is all about.(end of sentence)". If you want predictability from your foes, well there's the Mario Bros games. It's okay if they last long. I get bored of the same freaking sentence all the time.
The AI seems pretty realistic. Just make them go up like in a regular tournament. The freaking blinds go up every two hands, and thats pretty unrealistic. You can't play good poker like that, because you just have to go all in with whatever hand you got. Some people were complaining that the players are "unpredictable", well call me old-fashioned but isn't that what poker IS ABOUT: unpredictability. I think the AI gets getting harder and harder as the game progresses, and if you have played chess against a computer, they really hard to beat. I've just played the game for two days (but for hours long) and here's my view of it:.
I haven't been able to get past the Satellite tournament so far. Put some spice in it darn it. The cards are suffled ramdomly it appears and there are not present hands that each player gets. The graphics are a disgrace, I agree with you all, but I hope the AI makes up for it.
Now to adress some of the negative remarks made about the game. This is false. All in all it makes for intereting play. *The players are unpredictable.
which brings me onto my next positive point about this game, the AI. So really, everybody wins. I don't know how efective it is in progressing in the game, but hey, it's fun. And when you get to the "Pro" stages of the game, you get to view cut scenes of the lovely Shana Hiatt. Hitting the "Gloat" expression is always a laugh when you flip over those pocket aces and view your opponents dismay. This game may not be fast-paced enough for some, but I'd recommend giving it a go, particularly if you love your poker.
Unpredictable play is what forces those tough decisions out, in my eyes it only makes the game more challenging. I'd like to adress a few things that other reviewers have written about this game, but first I'd like to give my own opinion. I can't get my head around this one. *Not being able to name your Create-a-player. It offers a variety of options in regards to style of play (In the quick draw section you can choose from any number of poker variations including Omaha, 7 card stud, 5 card stud, 5 card draw.).
I don't really have any issues with the graphics, they look pretty standard to most stuff on the xbox. The only time you can't name a player is if you select "Player" rather than "Empty". At the player select screen all you need to do is select "Empty" and the game will allow you to create a player from scratch, name and all. and also includes an in-depth career mode. Some of them are Maniacs, some of them bluff compulsively, some of them will Slow play every hand (And occaisionally drive you broke in the process), some of them will check-raise you pre-flop.
The only real negative about the career mode would be the fact that it can be somewhat repetetive, involving playing the same tournaments over and over. You can name your player anything you want. Isn't this what makes the game fun. There are also fat old men. By pushing the thumbstick in each direction you can represent a different emotion by using facial expression.
*All the women are old and fat. Another interesting element of this game is the emotion toggle that you can use with the right thumbstick.
To tell the absolute truth, I didn't notice this one, but there are a few fat old women in this game. It's a bit of fun.
But the important thing for me was the gameplay, and I found it very enjoyable. As stupid as their names are, they will provide you a worthy challenge, as between them they represent many different styles of poker play.
As you play table after table of world class poker tournaments, you will encounter a countless array of ridiculously named Poker Sims (Ollie Cherhat, Di Nomite, Asa Spades.). For the three months that I've owned it, I've found WPT to be a very fun, very addictive game.
However, as you progress the difficulty increases, and you'll find that your rabid raising, maniac style that got you into the tournament finale won't work against better opposition, thus forcing the player to employ different strategies for different opponents,.
My friend and I have been saying those exact same things you mentioned for about 6 months now. I just want a good, solid REALISTIC poker game to come out that is fun and challenging. Plus, anybody who knows how to play poker with any amount of skill knows that there is no way you would play 3/4 of those joke show hands in real life at a poker table. I don't know who you are Scott, but everything you said in your review is 100% correct and accurate about World Poker Tour. Also, how hard IS it to make a good looking poker game. There is not that much going on in the background, and it seems like that would be a really simple thing to do.
3. 4. 1. Players chip stacks don't look different from each other. A aggravating sidenote: All the women are old and fat.
1. 2. 6. When a player puts chips into the put (to call or raise), the chips disappear. Game creation mode is very weak. How hard is it to make a good poker game. check" in the same voice over and over again.
and that's not very creative. This is the best feature. Atrocious graphics. I created "Scottum" and it is no limit Hi-Lo Omaha with deuces wild. 4. Pros.
There's about 3 different voice types for each gender so you here 2 guys saying "hmmm. I still can't get over the fact that I can't name my player. I haven't seen one latino, one Asian, but 3/5 of the people are African American. Biggest Flaw- Half the hands end up with 2 players checking until the river. Cons. The big blind always calls your pre-flop raise unless it's more than half of their chips. Lots of tutorials, game types, etc.
Strange. 3 stars because it's better than all the other poker games. Nobody raised. It has unlimited lasting-time. WHAT THE.). 5.
The players always have their mouths open and look like they've seen a ghost frequently. Not to mention the horrible graphic of the player seeming to levitate the chips into his/her palm. Create a character has depth (BUT YOU CAN'T NAME HIM. All of a sudden "Marsha Mello" joins the table and has 7500 and steals all the pots. 5. The players are unpredictable at least.
Other tables seem to have wild action compared to yours. Basically you combine elements of other games. 2. 7. 5.
This game got a fairly positive review from XBOX Magazine, so I decided to get it. Random Aggravations;. I have a nice healthy stack of 3000 and I'm winning the table. Further, there seems to be an unproportional number of African American's compared to everyone else.
It has online play. I always lose all-ins even though I almost always have the best hand. 6. You can skip hands when you fold, and that speeds things up dramatically. When a player folds before the flop, sometimes they say "I think you have me beat, I fold".
6. no matter what they have. 3. 2. 4. Players bluff far too much and are too content to call your all-in with 23 and win against AK (I Hate "Ken U Diggett"). Abundance of game types is great, and the gameplay isn't THAT bad.
Who has you beat. It shames the XBOX name.
Creative Player Names. I just wish the AI would be smarter (and my QQ not to lose to KQ 90% of the time).
1. Maybe the AI gets a luck advantage because some of them don't know what they're doing, although some players are very good.
3. The facial expression thing (controlled by the right thumbstick) is pointless.
That's about as creative as you can get.
