For anyone with family in different states or countries, this is a must have for the small money it costs to buy the phones and then just $9.95 per month service fee for UNLIMITED calling. It puts webcams to shame as there is no setup everytime you want to make a call. No pre-arranging calls, jsut call and talk, it they're not home, leave a video message.
5-Feb-2008. I am looking at alternatives, like D-Link's product. It was not the greatest product, but we loved the experience. The customer's refusal to pay such monies has contributed to a shortfall in the operating cash available to the Company to continue operations.
I am very disappointed having spent $600 for two of them about 6 months ago. Without such financing or the payment of monies believed to be owed, however, the Company will continue its plan to wind down the business. The Company continues to explore potential financing opportunities and is also pursuing legal recourse against the customer. It no longer works.
The Company is currently in a dispute with its largest customer over the payment of significant monies which the Company believes are owed to it. The Company would intend to resume operations if it can obtain financing or payment of the monies believed to be owed in a timely manner. Accordingly, on January 30, 2008, the Company shut down its operations as a first step to winding down its business, which will occur if the Company is not able to secure payment of the monies believed to be owed and/or new financing.
Worldgate went out of business, so if you buy the phone, you can't use it without the monthly service.
THERE IS NO SERVICE BEING PROVIDED FROM THEM SO THIS PHONE IS WORTHLESS. HAVE MULTIPLE PHONES WITH RELATIVES ALL OVER. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANOTHER PROVIDER THAT OJO PHONES WORK WITH IM ALL EARS. WARNING THIS COMPANY IS PREPARING TO SHUT DOWN OVER A FINANCIAL DISPUTE.
The phones are a little expensive up front, but the quality and ease of use are worth the price. Installation ranged from very easy to fairly easy on the four installations. Overall, we have been extremely happy with the phones. I recommend them highly. I purchased Ojo's for my children, parents, and self for an early Christmas present and installed them in November. Ojo personnel are also very helpful in installation and answering questions. My parents are older and I bought the Ojo in part because it appeared to be the easiest to use, and that has proven to be the case. The pictures are good, features are good, and the synchronization between voice and picture is excellent.
