There is not a way to program the TV with the remote control, so if you need to reset the channels after a power outage, for example, you have to do it manually on the TV set itself. For everyday use, this remote has been an adequate replacement. Sure, it would be nice to be able to do this from a position more comfortable than 12 inches away from the TV screen; but, how often is this sort of thing necessary.
