The Zune dock elegantly displays your Microsoft Zune media player anywhere in your home or office for easily customizable media access. The dock features a pair of built-in outputs for maximum versatility: a connector port for syncing and charging your Zune, and an audio/video output with a built-in audio amplifier. The connector port is a handy option for people who want to sync or charge their Zune without fumbling under the desk for the sync cable, as the cable instead plugs right into the dock. The A/V port, meanwhile, lets you connect the dock to a stereo system or TV for full-featured playback. In both cases, all you have to do is drop your Zune into the dock and it will charge, sync, or playback via the connected devices--no extra connections required. Plus, the dock includes an integrated IR receiver for use with the Zune wireless remote (sold separately). The IR receiver and remote give you quick access to your current playlist, as well as full control over menu navigation and volume. The dock even includes a small built-in slot that holds the remote--a convenient and stylish way to store the remote when not in use. As with all Zune accessories, the dock is backed by a 1-year warranty.

Now I have a gift for my friend with a 1st gen Zune. Buy Zune Dock v2. Ugh.
i ordered it from Reagan Wireless i try to send it back and no ones there to answer and now its past fourteen days so i cant return it for my cash back. i ordered the zune dock and got this sierra wireless 595u cocking cradle usb station. but in stead something worth nothing at all. so be careful you might not actually get what you put your cash in to.
From a design standpoint, the dock is quite nice; the ability to hold the Zune and the remote in an elegant position while leaving it connected gives it a classy touch. All in all, if you want the dock, go ahead and buy the Zune Home A/V Pack, which contains the dock and all the accessories needed to make the Dock at all useful. There is only one expansion port for the device, meaning it can only be charged by an outlet or connected to the PC, but not both. For example, the remote is placed directly behind the Zune, meaning that when both are in the dock, reaching for the remote without knocking over the Zune can be needlessly frustrating. This is a product where artistry and design attempt to overthrow the engineering and usefulness of a product, and makes it ultimately that much weaker for it. And perhaps most importantly, all you get in the package is the dock. The remote, sync cable, power adapter, and A/V cables are all sold separately, making buying this product by itself almost worthless, unless it and the other cables can be bought for a low price. However, there are an assortment of problems with the actual usability of this device.
The dock works very good with the standard USB hookup provided with the Zune. I will also work with other types of charging devices that have a Zune plug.
It holds my 30G Zune for charging and keeps it connected to my computer. I have also used it to connect as a source for my hi-fi. I like what the Dock can do.
